I was curious if anyone knows if the centrotec system fits into the new feins 18v drills quick release system? Toolnut has them on sale and I have contemplated buying one. If the centrotec system doesn't fit I don't think I will buy one though.

Unfortunately, I don't think the Fein is compatible with Centrotec although it works very similarly.

But, at $169, it's a hard deal to pass up on a brushless drill. Especially German made.

I'm also curious about this, also considering the Centrotec chuck does fit the Metabo/Mafell 18V quick change drills...

I know you are slowly talking me into it. There isn't a percussion setting like the PDC is there? One thing I would like to have is some type of masonry drill. I do extremely small amounts of it for my woodworking business where I would use the drill but I want the flexibility. How much longer is that sale going to go for?

[member=42383]Tayler_mann[/member], I am far from being someone who pushes the hard sale. I just provide information and let folks like you choose.  [smile] It's important that you're happy with your choice.

The Fein ASCM 18 does not have a percussion mode. If that's important to you, you'd need a second drill or this isn't the drill for you.

Regarding how long this offer will last... We've got a limited number available at this price. Once they're gone, the price will return to the original price. They are going at a very good clip. In fact, we are usually bogged down with fulfillment and any order for them placed today will likely not ship until Monday or Tuesday. But, I think the value is worth the wait.

If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to help you in your decision.

FYI, these are brand new, not refurbs. No strings attached or fine print. The lowest price I can find online is $299 versus our price of $169.

Shane will this accept  the std 1/4 inch hex bits such as snappy etc?

Vijay, like the Festool drills, the keyless chuck will accept virtually any type of bit. The bit chuck that comes with this drill works with 6.3mm bits, also known in the non-metric world as 1/4" hex shank bits. Both wire and ball detent.

Thanks Shane. I knew about the keyless chuck, I was wondering about the other chuck. Thank you for answering the question. I just ordered.

Vijay

The comment about the keyless chuck was preemptive and for the benefit of others.  [wink]

Thanks for the order, Vijay.

Wow. That is cheap - do you ship to germany? Here it is about 460€  [eek]

Sorry, we do not ship internationally.

And, welcome to the forum.  [smile]

I just ordered one...now if you would just drop the 18V supercut price I would jump on that too!  I bought the corded Super from Toolnut when they first started selling those in systainers.  It is great! especially useful with the Festool plunge atachment.  I just undercut a house full of rafter tails so I could recess the soffits.

Shane another question.  Is there a right angle or eccentric chuck available for this drill.  Will other makes fit this?

Festool's Centrotec chucks aren't compatible and I don't know of any other chucks that are available. Fein doesn't appear to offer any additional chucks.

[member=163]vkumar[/member], actually I should have remembered a new product being offered by another manufacturer that would probably serve as an alternative for a right angle and eccentic chuck, for $30. Check it out and see if it fits your needs.

Does the battery fit the supercut?

It appears that Fein has a single battery platform. So, yes, the batteries should be compatible with any other Fein 18v cordless tool.

So most of the European made drills have a 43mm collar for attaching the auxiliary handle. Metabo makes one that clamps directly to where the collar attaches, as does Protool/Festool.

One of the users on the Mafell forums found that that the Protool one works on his Metabo drill, it's probably worth tracking down the Metabo to test on the Fein since I bet the Protool one is impossible to get over here:
