Friend of mine has been working at a local wood shop for years. Hes an excellent wood worker. The shop owns a Feldor shaper, I'll get the model next time I see him. The motor that raises the spindle died because it was receiving too much power from the control. Feldor tech admitted this was a problem after troubleshooting and Feldor proceeded to quote a repair at around $1200. Feldor... you've got to be kidding. Of course the machine was just 1 or 2 months out of warranty so they could was their hands of it.
If the controller was sending too much power to the motor which was killing it over time, why is this not unconditionally Feldor's fault? I had just set my sights on a their 18" bandsaws but I'll be looking for a new brand. If anyone has a Feldor shaper call them asap.
