My experience with the TS 55 is pretty much limited to sheet goods. When cutting on a foam platform, the saw leave virtually no saw dust. To me that window act as intake in that situation. Cutting a sheet good in half have never leave a trail of saw dust, for me anyways (I use a 36mm hose). The only time I have saw dust is when I trim the factory edges or at the end of basically every cut. If you feel the need to block that window it would not hurt to make a few 1/16 holes in it [wink]
