Festo Basis System Questions & Guidance

Gidday everyone

I just purchased a pile of the titled above. I know it's old stuff but was a steal of a price. It had been sitting in a shed for at least 15 years. Condition is good and very useable (throwing out the grinder /sander).

Ive been reading the last 24 hours gathering info and working out what I need (if available) and what I will do - fix /retrofit.

Questions

1.  I have the V650 extension and need info/parts on how to connect to Basis Plus table. I've googled photos and can see how its connected but no detail to how. Any close up photos or manuals?

2: The ST 1120, I see where the short poles  enter into the Basis Plus and has only the socket screws to hold it. I also saw on a photo, 1 leg (which I have). Is that all that is required?

I knew alot of the stuff would be redunadant but the Basis plus is nice and solid. Has anyone retrofitted for use with other DIY inserts?

The Basis 5A router sled  looks like a great piece of kit (used for the OF1000) - The 6A is used for the OF1400 anyone retrofitted this for other routers? 

The Basis 4 module uses the Trion jigsaw - Anyone find this useful in their CMS? I might keep an eye out for the Trion so I can fit permanently.

The Basis 2A (saw table), is used for the older larger equivalent to the TS75. 
VDE 0530 Grinder sander
FST 660 (predecessor to the MFT table) - I'll make a new table top.
2x FS800 (Ill use one for the FST660
2xFS1400

Side note: This gear must have cost a small fortune back in the day, especially in Australia

Ideal Tools, here in Melbourne, also stock spare parts and I've found that they have parts in stock for some older tools, might be worth a phone call.

I have the CMS-PS for my CMS table and it is the least used plate of them all. I basically put it on once and tested it and decided I hate it. (But I hate jigsaws in general, so…)

Your mileage may vary here, but I found it very difficult to control the work piece as the saw chewed thru it.

Yeah, the whole concept is a poor man's bandsaw. A lifesaver when no other options, but I would not dedicate a Trion to it .. Certainly not in a static shop when cheap-but-servicable bandsaws are $300 these days.

It is good the insert is around though - as a complementary piece.

Actually, I was thinking of it as a poor mans bandsaw as well, but it isn’t. I’d rather use hand tools than use this solution and for me to say that takes a lot.

That's really good to know,  [smile]  as I have an extra Trion that's been sitting around and was thinking about finding a PS insert and installing it in the CMS. Instead I'll just sell the Trion...decision made. [big grin]

If you want to try it, make your own insert out of MDF. The CMS-PS (or Basis ditto) must be the easiest insert to make yourself. Maybe you will like it but I would not bother looking for a proper insert before you know what it is like using the saw like that.

Good to know about the jigsaw plate - Ill pass on it.
I did look at Ekat and couldnt find on Australian site - looked at the german site - bingo.
I'll have a look and see what I come up with
