I learned how to use my Festool plunge saw from the websites of Mssrs. Lucas and Work.  I am about to tackle learning the proper care and use of my Festool 1400 router.  Needless to say, the instructional materials from Festool leave a great deal to be desired.

If you were new to using a router, much less the Festool 1400 router, where would you go to look at how to use the Festool 1400, and when you had mastered the use of the 1400, where would you go to master the use of the 1400 on the MFT.

One of the advantages of Mssrs. Work and Lucas is that they start with taking the tool out of the box and making no assumptions about what the reader may or may not know.  Any comparable guide for the 1400 would be appreciated.

Jerry and John's sites are a good place to start. If you have specific questions, ask them here. The members are great, they will have an answer for you in no time. As we speak, I am working on the Festool router pages on my site. But they won't be done for a week or two, sorry. Until then you know where to look. Good luck with the 1400, it's a great router.

Hey BC
Your local public library will probably have numerous books on the subject (basic wood routing), and videos as well. Give them a try.
The OF 1400 was my first real router (RotoZips don't count), too. I found most of my wood routing information at the Shelby County Public Library.
You can get all of the basics through library books and videos. This will give you a good foundation, and a common point of reference.
You were smart enough to pick a doozey of a router. I'd say you've got this problem half solved already.

Best of luck

Greg

I add my voice to the chorus praising Jerry Work's manuals.

PS: Where did you get the name "BC6738F5BCE98B4"?

Have you seen Rick Christopherson's 1400 manual? Info on both the router and router basics.

Thank you very much for this referance.  It is precisely the sort of thing that I was looking for.  I wish it had been included in my Systainer with the Router.
