Festool 497657 FS Guide Rail Accessory Kit

You are linking to Amazon.com, not *.co.uk

That set is becoming a bit of a joke;
Angle unit got updated
Hose deflector got updated
Rail connectors got updated
No quick clamps

I own it too, in Systainer Classic, but to buy new now... I don't know.

The item ships from Amazon Global Store UK.  I see cross pollination between the Amazon sites when I search on the Germany site.  It's common to see some items on the German site that ship from the same vendors on the U.S. or U.K. Amazon sites.  In these cases, the shipping time is usually weeks or months and the estimated shipping costs are high.

Yes, it's sold by Amazon UK from US Amazon site :P
Is there an updated version of this guide set?

This one isn't too bad with shipping. It's free shipping if you have Prime membership. I ordered mine yesterday and is arriving next Monday via DHL. :)

I'm fairly certain that Amazon is violating some dealer rules cross-shipping like this, but good luck stopping them.
I waiting until mine arrived until I brought it up here on FOG, but they still have the SYS 1 TL-DF (discontinued?) Sys-1 with Attic at a great price shipped from UK:https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058HUGFY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The picture is of a Sys2, but the model number matched the sys1, and when mine arrived via DHL, it was in fact the Sys1 with attic. Perfect to hold my electrical tools and Wago nuts.
I'm pondering grabbing more, as I started my systainerization after sys3 had driven some of the better options out.

Yeah, the part number is about the only thing at Amazon that gives certainty. Shame they hide the EAN...

Yes, there is: link

I had the old set aswell (first I got the angle thing, I then ordered the inlay, to store the rest of the contents I already had) The angle thing in the old set sucks, it's one of two festool accessories I ever sold (the second was the dust collection set for my cs70 which I had 2 of, because the guy who stole my saw forgot to take that too)

Does the new angle thing not suck then?

Is there still space for the FS-WA/90o in that thing? Since it's 20mm higher than the old set and that set had plenty of space too.

Wow this look so much better! I wish it's here in US...

The old FS_KS was meant as an angle-transfer device, (you take it to a corner, set the angle, and take it back to set the guiderail to that angle) it didn't hold its setting very well, nor was the scale very accurate; and it didn't fix itself  to the rail (it had plastic guideblocks that slid into the upward facing groove on the guiderail from the top).

At the time a lot of people wanted to use it as a guiderail-square and you can probably find a few old threads of people modifying it.

I got myself a fs-ag2 when it was still branded protool (they promoted it at the time of the introduction of the swordsaw, and I just saw that they still sell the thing). This thing did lock solidly to the guiderail, but before you attach it to the rail it has a bit of play, and the scale isn't very accurate, so it takes time to set up properly. Also, the fence is higher than 18 mm material, so you have to make sure the material extends past the edge of the cutting table. (So not as practical as the currently available, easy on and off accurate guiderailsquares.) (It does have a fairly long fence, and you can use the same flipstops as on the mft-fence, it also has a little move-able tab that rests on the material to keep the rail laying flat)

The new FS-WA attaches to the rail like FS-WA/90 with the added functionality of being able to set to an angle, there is also a fence extention availlable with a printed scale for the stop. I don't now if it features detents for common angles, I learned of its existence when I saw [member=71478]FestitaMakool[/member]  's post about it in the "What Festool did you buy today" thread, maybe he can chime in on how he likes it sofar.

Thanks! bit pricey though :) I'll think about switching over

That was a bit steep. I paid about $276.
Considering that you get the protractor, clamps, guide rail stop, and the new hose deflector and the new guide rail connectors in a systainer I thought it was very reasonable.

I’m planning to buy a set of TSO connectors and use in combination with the expanding one in this set - given that my rail t-tracks are straight to fast fix two rails. I’ve not have need for any large sheet goods ripping, so only tested briefly.

I’m sure this kit will find its way to Festool USA.

If you think that was pricey try Woodpeckers:https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-Track-Square-in-Systainer/dp/B0857L2WJV

To be fair, Woodpeckers' prices on Amazon add Amazon's cut on top of the retail price.  If you buy direct from the Woodpeckers' site, the prices are the same as what they advertise in their e-mails.

So far so good. I like it, and especially the whole kit.
It’s not an replacement for TSO’s square, more an addition. The fact that I work with bespoke work adapting for existing interior, walls, floors and so on in an old wooden house means efficiency by setting the odd angle to meet what’s there. For anyone that work outside 90° and 45° often, this is tremendous help for those occasions. It can be an alternative used with a TS 55/75 instead of having the HK saws and FSK rails too. Though not mobile freehand or roof work.
With the extension there’s repetitive ease too, cutting several pieces at the same angle, being 90° or any other.

I’ve also used the Kapex angle finder to set the angle. Doing in between angles on the Kapex is a PITA sometimes, as it hard to move a millimetre, and it easily jumps in preset’s grrrr. 44,7 - 89,8.. The laser helps positioning without having to drop the head all the time, but the movement sideways trying to hold the angle finder while fighting the unlock knob and in between knob at the same time sighting the laser to hit the markings one the gauge is a whole lot of fun [scared]

With the protractor: clamp the edge guide, move the rails kerf splinter guard into a mark or the square, lock and you’re ready.
Micro adjust mitre angles on Kapex anyone? [big grin]
