Hmmm...this is a tough crowd. [big grin] My thought was that if you're in a pinch, an engraving extension may be a viable alternative if one is offered and more importantly, if it's of a suitable quality. I don't know...never used one but for a quick fix, it may be an alternative. However inherent in that statement is that if this is something that you need on a repetitive basis then there are better/safer alternatives. Enter the larger router.
My first vision was this...a Festool router bit on the LH side designed for a 1010 router and a standard Bosch 1/2" router bit on the RH side. Which one would you feel most comfortable about spinning up to 24,000 RPM on a 1010 router? The 1/2" shank issue kind of recedes into the background...
