Just ordered the Festool Diamond Cutting System Tile Cutter DSC-AG 125 PLUS-FS 768993 from eBay. It's en route from Germany. I mainly needed a new angle grinder but the rail and hood attachment seemed like a worthwhile investment. Has anyone bought one of these and have any thoughts on its performance?

And does anyone know if a Festool plug it conversion-kit UBS-PUR 420 plug it 240 V would work with it?

You can install a Plug-it connector with these ex. Protool machines.
These machines were transformed to a fixed cord but also appeared with a Plug-it cord a while back,
Look at part number #489927 and you can replace it with the cord strain relief inside the DSC.
I also transformed a Protool DSG and DRP with a Plug-it cord.
And it works great.

Thanks neeleman

The part number you posted brings up 489927 Socket housing Ersatzteil

Is that what you mean? Sorry if I'm being thick but what is the cord strain relief? And is the plug-it conversion kit also then needed as well as the part you've suggested?

No with the internal part I mentioned there is no need for the conversion kit.
Just replace it for the cable clamp inside the housing and connect the 2 wires on the same place as from the power cord.
The Protool EKAT has recently been shortened and the AGP 125-14 CEQ angle grinder was the version with Plug-it cord (Q letter). The replacement parts picture is now not available, it was last week.
But trust me I've done it with a few machines already.
The conversion kit together with the Plug-it cord is a bulk of plastic hanging behind the machine and can get stuck.

Below is a picture of the part I mentioned (red number).
I noticed that the EKAT from Festool and Protool is not running properly tonight.
All Festool machines with Plug-it cord (Q versions) have some kind of this part inside.
Some with longer wires some with metal connectors crimped on it already.
You can do this yourself I presume?

Hi all

I have the DSC-AG 125 and I'm wondering if there is a disk protector available if I want to use the machine as a "standard" angle grinder ?

The grinder is easily detached from the tile cutting guide but I'd prefer not using it without protection as an angle grinder

thanks

I have the DSC AG 125 and it is a "good" machine. I bought it for the versatility and the possibility to tackle different small jobs.
For actual grinding I find it a little underpowered. I don't use grinders all that much but in my experience the Bosch grinders I had (same size) was a little tougher. Overall I am happy with the unit and I have used it to grind and cut various materials. Despite a little lack of power for demanding grind jobs I think the machine is a keeper for me. :)

Do you really want to change out the cord?

On a sander, or a gang of them, then one can be constantly dehosing the machines it can make some sense.
But once one is on the floor the grinding usually lasts a while.

I did change out the cord on mine - mostly because I have a hose with integrated cable.
But I agree. I did bust a move or two on the floor with it and it does wear some on the plugit.

I also think the machine is better catered to with a larger hose when grinding concrete.
