Festool belt sander

A belt sander is a great tool, unfortunately my Porter Cable is a piece of junk. Was looking at the Rigid but I'll check out that Makita.

A belt sander is the tool I go to for scribing cabinets or countertops for a perfect fit, even with a planer to get it close the belt sander finishes it up.
The Porter Cable are junk and require to many replacement parts, which is sad because they used to make great tools. I have a small Ridgid that is OK, but not great. When I asked about a festool belt sander a couple guys reccomended the Makita, so that will be the one I go for next.

I have the makita 9403 100mm sander and it's very good. The Festool hose fits right on and it clamps to the MFT in a cradle I made to make a stationary belt sander and it's great for removing old flooring adhesive, scribing counter top, flattening cupped floor boards before tiling etc or any place where speedy removal is needed rather than finish although I would use it more if it had a frame.

Tezzer's executive summary from this thread.

"I just took possesion of the BS105 (the larger Festool belt sander) for a 2 week play/trial.... They are NOT getting it back.

I feel sooooooo sorry for you lot not having access to this amazing bit of monster machinery.

It is BIG and HEAVY and with the sanding frame and fresh 80# leaves a flawless silky smooth finish almost ready to polish.

Belt sanders are not supposed to be like this ???

More expensive than the Domi and just as special."
