How can i determine if I have a bad battery or if the charger has gone bad?  Battery is about 8 years old so my assumption is the battery, but it doesnt get used that much.  TIA

Hi, with a vom, a fully charged battery should read above rated voltage,if reading @ or below battery should be replaced, with same vom charger should show rated output stamped some where on the charger. guy

if you have the tcl6, does it not say that either the battery or the chargger is beggerd.  u can easily cheack, by putting a known good battey on it.

I don't have anything Festool cordless. Doesn't the charger have LED codes? e.g. charging, or battery full, or battery hot, or battery junk.... 🤷🏾‍♂️

pritty sure it does.  i only really look at chargers to put the battery on, and see if its charged.  dont rely ready them [wink]

Sometimes flashes green like it is starting to charge, then come back later and it has a amberish/red light that is flashing that indicates check owners manual.

Sounds like it's time for a new battery. Take it into a dtore and see if they can put it on one of their chargers. You might have to buy another tool in order to get a good deal on the batteries.

Check the Festool classifieds.  Someone just posted a smaller 18v battery for sale.

I have a small universal charger, the iMax B6 mini that I use to charge... just about anything if I want to know how much it will still hold.
But first check the voltage. An 'empty' 18V battery should still hold like 12V. A fully charged one will hit 21V

You could also open it up and see if anything is visible wrong. Then you can also measure the individual cells. Do not short the cells!! Same applies to charger; it might have some blown cap or resistor.
