Festool CSC SYS 50 Table Saw - Error While Calibrating

Hello, FOG Friends. I don't visit or post nearly as much as I once did but I still believe this is forum is a great resource.

I had a customer reach out today who had purchased a CSC SYS 50. When he received it, he began the initial setup and ran into an error during the calibration phase. After multiple attempts, he reached out to Festool service and they told him he would need to send it in for service, which obviously was not ideal. After some correspondence and help from an ex-colleague at Festool USA, we found a solution that fixed the problem immediately. He was able to download the Festool app on his phone and get it to connect to the table saw. He was then able to perform a firmware software update, which resolved the problem and he was able to complete the calibration process and get the saw working.

I wanted to share it here and document the fix so that anyone else who experiences this problem might find this post and be able to fix their saw quickly and easily.

In the words of my good buddy, Sedge, "I hope this helps!".

Thank you @Shane Holland. I just purchased my new CSC SYS 50 and good to know this resource is available. So far, so good on the set up and calibration.

I’ll be interested in hearing about tips for dialing-in settings for accuracy and best practices that anyone may have.

Dave

Thank you for reminding us of that simple first step.

It’s a shame that Festool USA won’t suggest the basics of “Download the app and update the firmware”.

There are some good posts in the FOG on how to calibrate that saw, and also some good videos on YouTube.

The app and firmware aren't even an option for us in Oz! I do have an old Android phone around though I might try changing the region on to see if I can get the app installed.

I wonder if my USA iPhone would work in Australia. I already have the app, and have updated my CSC SYS 50 and batteries with it.

Perhaps by using a VPN and setting it to "USA" it might work. But I wonder if you could register a non-USA tool with FTUSA's app since I presume that the T and S numbers are specific to regions (?).

I did try to do it on my active mob using an app, but it wants a Festool login, so when I change my phone over I'll try to change the region and setup an account on the US site on the phone without a sim. But the tool type I can see being a problem that the app would block it most likely.

Pretty annoyed by all this, using the app should be a fairly straight forward thing for us to be able to do.
