I have had a Festool CT26e + Oneida UDD for several years ...

Recently, the plastic "hood" for the CT26e became brittle and disintegrated. I was able to purchase a replacement hood from Festool. It fits perfectly ...

Looks nearly new! But there is a problem fitting the Oneida UDD. The top of the hood has a different configuration, notable a recess is now absent, and the result is that the UDD balances on top but cannot be clamped in.

The old upper hood ...

Any suggestions to fit the Oneida UDD? The local agent suggested purchasing the Festool CT-VA Cyclone.

Regards from Perth

The Festool cyclone has a limited capacity and requires branded bags (although those can be reused — which can be messy as f*). I have one standing next to a Midi 1st gen.
You may be better off MacGyvering something to securely place the Oneida on the vac.

Damn mine just broke during a move and have the same set up…this not good news…and yes “brittle”

I received this PDF from Oneida today. It looks like there is a fit, but mine connects only on one side of the UDD.

More photos.

The one side is connected as per the PDF ...

But now the ends are not able to join. I think there is a work-around ...

One end ...

The other end ...

Close up of the connector here ...

It can be seen that the tab on the UDD is solid and not slit, as in the PDF. Is the solution to saw a groove in the tab? Is the construction strong enough to do so?

What if you took some perspex about 5mm thick and cut it into a "J" shape then glued it to the side of the UDD. Would the "J" shape hook under the mounting lip of the CT26? This is very similar to the way a new style Systainer attaches to the top of the CT vacuums. The systainer hooks under at one end the the turn buckle on the CT grabs the notch on the front of the systainer.

Another response from Oneida ..

Hi Derek,
Thank you for the pictures. Based on what I am seeing, yes it looks like you may have to file out part of the notch to get the clip to engage. Attached are instructions that were created to get the Mini/Midi to work, and this should show what needs to be done. See below picture. If you have a Dremel tool or small saw, you will cut a section of the notch out to allow the clip to not interfere with the part that is shown circled in red below.

Thanks for this, Derek. I have the same setup (CT26E and UDD). While my original hose garage is still holding up, I know that it will fail at some point. So this info will be handy. Thanks again.

Cheers,
