I inherited a vacuum that seemed in perfect order, used it for a couple months as an extractor cutting wood occasionally, only filled one load worth of refuse; had a couple month gap where I did other things, it was covered with a tarp while I took render off the wall (which covered everything in the room with a fine dust), thought I'd start cleaning up today and emptied it for the first time since I've had it, plugged it in - and saw what I thought might be fine wisps of smoke coming out the front of it. Unplugged it right away and carried it out just in case it were to start burning (it didn't), googled any issues, checked the fuse in the plug (it was ok), and thought I'd check if the power socket in it still works (my saw powered up but the vacuum didn't turn on).

I think what I thought might be smoke was just the very fine dust rising from the inside; is there some kind of fan that turns on in the vacuum as soon as it's plugged in? I wasn't touching it so it wasn't my movement that made the dust rise.

Would any of you perhaps have advice on what could be wrong with it? Could it be dust blocking something inside? (the filter is completely clean) I want to take the whole thing apart but thought I'd first ask if anyone might have any pointers for what to look for. Thanks!

Mine is doing the same thing the vacuum stopped working I replace the switch thinking that that was the problem but it doesn’t work still it does make the popping sound but the vacuum motor doesn’t work

I'm having a similar issue with the same model and came across this post with no hope on the horizon. None of the switches work, however my power tools power on through the pass-through.
After disassembling I saw two things that didn't seem quite right. Could anyone with more experience please comment if these parts are meant to look like this? By the fan, and two transistors on the circuit board.

Might end up getting a replacement circuit if no one ends up having any suggestions. I do however have a follow up question to anyone who might have more knowledge on the subject. The circuit board in my machine is numbered 203627D, and the currently available replacements are numbered 203974. With the only clear difference I can see between mine and this one being - the lack of a little red bit on the new boards. Mine has this written on it "HARTU 290045-51 M 25/19".
Does this matter? Does anyone know what this does and why it's not on the new circuit boards?

Looks like the two electrolytic capacitors have blown. It would be a fairly easy fix to pull them off the board but if the underneath is set in epoxy as well it may be difficult to solder new ones back in. If you can access the solder side I'd simply replace the caps, otherwise you need to replace the board itself.
