Hello fellow Festoolians. Was thinking of buying the CXS Compact drill by next Monday. I do a lot of cabinet work and was wondering if it would make a good replacement for my Dewalt 12 Volt XRP drill that I use now and batteries are getting harder to find. I have drank a lot of Koolaid lately and wondered if I should pour myself another glass.

Just buy it . It's the best drill in its class by miles. The battery life is excellent.  Get the set version and you won't regret it or take it back!  I wouldn't trade mine for anything ( well almost [smile]).

Ditto, what DaveJ said.  It just may be my most favorite Festool  ...And I have a lot of them!

Another vote for "well worth the money"...

It was one of my first Festool-aid purchases (along with Syslite) and I love using it almost daily.

cheers.  Bryan.

Bought one Saturday. Used it this week for a kitchen install and love it! Never want to go back to an impact driver, brother had his impact on the go...conversation killer! Csx just feels great and is very strong.

It looks like the US is not getting a price increase on the CXS but in Canada we are.
564274   CXS Compact Drill Set Li 1.5Ah   $357.00 ( After April 1 )
564274   CXS Compact Drill Set Li 1.5Ah   $333.00 ( Before April 1 )

I try to find a use for my CSX as often as I can. It is a delightful drill.

Get the set. The accessories are very useful.

Since I bought mine my 18v makita impact has been very lonely

Why prolong the suffering of the Dewalt; when it grows up it just wants to be a Festool, let nature take its course.

Got mine this week, my opinion is that for the money this drill is a no brainer.

[size=11pt]

Why all this confusion of CSX and CXS? Mine says clearly CXS on box and tool.

I once said here on the FOG that unlike most Festool products, I could not see the point of purchasing their drills. My Metabo corded and Makita battery drills were just fine.

Then I recently purchased a CXS. Game changer.

Do not hesitate, go for it.

After the first response in this thread you should have run out and bought it. I have multiple CXS's. They make life so much better.

Buy it, you won't regret it one minute when you pick it up for the 1st job.  I have the CXS and the T-18 but, for most of my cabinet work the CXS is the go to tool.

The CXS was the only Festool I returned.  Nice drill, but somewhat limited in capacity.  It will not replace the 12V DeWalt task for task.  Besides, for the money, you can get the 20V 1.5Ah DeWalt set with both an impact and drill.  They are considerable lighter than the old DeWalts and eliminate most of the weight difference with the CXS.
I would like to have the CXS and will probably buy on some day but had to make the choice since I couldn't justify both at this time

The CXS is the only festool I've ever returned also. Been thinking about trying one again lately for reason, maybe around the house since I leave my others at my shop. I have the T15 drill and the impact and just didn't see the benefit of having the CXS.
