Hey FOGGERS,

I have been a member for a bit now, but this is my first post.  Those of you who post are wonderful.  You provide a vast amount of needed and useful information to us novices.  I hope this post provides you with some useful information.

I recently purchased a Festool CXS drill.  I just came across a product in Home Depot which compliments this drill.  Milwaukee makes a set of magnetic nut drivers that does NOT have a retention indent (Product 49-66-4563).  These nut drivers are a lower profile just like standard 1/4" bits.  This set of five cost me about $15 US. I have used it in the CXS drill with great results.  They stay in place just like the 1/4" bits and maintain a low profile.  While I love Festool products, many of the accessories can break the bank.  I am always looking for more cost efficient alternatives that work.  Good luck.

Are you just talking about mounting it directly to the  hex module, like so --

which may be done with most hex bits on all festool drills. Because they certainly don't otherwise fit into the Centrotec chuck without some modification.

Hi,

  Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

Looks like they are wire detent. Nice find.

  Thanks,

      Seth

While not a centrotec alternative, I do like that those bits a lot shorter that the one in ear's cxs.

That has advantages is some circumstances.

Ah, I see now.  The ones in the package are stubbier.  Thought they were the same as mine, which came in the shockwave driver kit.

The Milwaukee - TTi - H.Depot partnership is a marketing juggernaut .  Take your eye off the aisle for a week and they've released 10 new SKUs and deleted 5 others.

I haven't seen these stubby bits either.

They've been around...I purchased a set from the local Home Depot about 8-9 months ago. Interestingly enough, I returned mine as I decided to stick with the set of Apex bits I already owned.
