[size=11pt]I was delighted to learn that finally we poor sods in Ottawa can now see, touch, try and buy festool goodies within an hour's drive.  A new (I think) dealer is located in Brockville - Tool Tech - run by a knowledgeable, affable and approachable guy by the name of Patrick Desgens.  I had earlier bought from a great guy in British Columbia - Dan Clermont - who was equally helpful and responsive.  The only problem was I couldn't get my hands on the product before buying it.  Patrick has shown a real interest in ensuring the customer is satisfied.  I recently visited his shop and purchased the OF2200 router.  After getting it home and trying it out for balance and manoeuverability, I found it less comfortable than at first thought.  I called him and told him I wanted to return it.  No problem.  In fact he sent his Ottawa rep - Mike Lemieux - around to my house to retrieve it.  At the same time, Mike delivered an MFT/3 and offered to help me wrestle into my basement.  Several days later, both Mike and Patrick contacted my to ask if I was satisfied with the MFT and whether I had any questions they could help me with.  That is unusual followup service for a dealer, at least in my experience.  I know where I'm going to be shopping in future for Festoo productsl.  Great guy, great service.  And accessible.
Incidentally, I love the FOG.  Super useful postings!

I think Festool has some pretty high standards for their NA dealers to become and maintain their dealerships.  At least that's been my impression so far.  The price point of their tools almost demands it.  I as well deal with Dan at Ultimate Tools.  He was the only guy in Canada other than Hafele, but as you pointed out there are more dealers now.  My closet dealer is Atlas in downtowm Toronto, and I rarely ever go to downtown, and besides, I dislike doing so.  Parking, traffic etc.... so I'm sticking with Dan as he has given me great service. [big grin]

Must admit, with the OF2200 being on sale soon, I might want to kick its tires, but it is not a router/item high on my Festool wish list.  Think I'd get the 1010 for my LR stuff.  I have the 1400, and really love it, but I hear so many rave about nice it is to use to their 1010 despite it not being able to accept half inch bits.  Too bad they didn't have that router for sale coming up. [sad]

Welcome to the forum btw. [smile]

Gentmantel in Montreal has always been very helpful and they stock a lot of stuff- in fact everything I have ever asked for. CEJ in St Jerome- unknowledgeable and very little in stock.

Good to know there are increasing alternatives around here.

Richard.

Started out dealing with Hafele who gave me great service, met Dan From Ultimate ( http://ultimatetools.myshopify.com/ ) at the Toronto wood show who also gave great service, went down to see Sean at Atlas ( http://www.atlas-machinery.com/index.htm ) when they first opened and finally a place I've bought a lot of tools from, Mississauga Hardware ( http://www.mississaugahardware.com/store/ ) took on the Festool line and I've always got great service from Tony and boys. Nice to have selection and know that you don't have to worry about price. I have no affiliation with any of these outlets, I just like to support good tool stores.

Atlas is a great store. Always friendly and always have lots of stock on hand. Shawn is very knowledgable and their prices are great. I should be on commission. I was just there today and they are finishing up a major renovation inside. Mark

I bought my TS55 and Domino at Atlas about a month ago. They've rearranged their store shelving which means that it's more easily accessible to me. I dealt with Mike who was super helpful with information and such. Also too, Atlas has its own shared parking which is all of 50 yards east of the store. Much of what they stock is online on their website, but it still shows only a fraction of what they sell. I was quite impressed.

Mark, your commission check is in the mail! Thanks for the mention, and the store continues to get sweeter!! Enjoy the crown stops... Shawn

I've owned Festool for just over a year at this point. I started with Domino which I purchased from Atlas, great service, great people. However since I live in Ottawa, it was not very practical to drive to Toronto for such thing. At about the same time as I purchased my Domino I've discovered that just around the corner or about 100km from me in Brokville there is another dealer. ToolTech. Since then I bought all of my other Festool & Non Festool from there.
As one of the members said it above Patrick is a great guy, knows his stuff very well and you get over 100% service and support. Now, 100km is still a bit ways out, so the coolest thing about Toolteck is that they actually will bring their truck with demo tools to your show, in Ottawa or surrounding areas and let you play with tools and get to know them in your shop. Now how is that for service. You don't even need to go to them.
Mike form Tool Tech came by to my place a few time as well. I bought 2200 Router from him and some other stuff.

My Next BIG one is going to be Kapex with personal home delivery.

So to make a long story short if I was to rate Tool Tech and Mike and Patrick I'd give them 5 start. Can't think of anything else they can do better.
