Like an old Chevy with a powerglide, sometime 2-speeds is enough.
On a bicycle, like a drill press, more seems better...
But both bicycles and drill presses have more room for a bigger transmission.
Of course it depends on what one is drilling/screwing?
So the question of "which single drill" seems a bit meaningless.
Usually for me it is the smallest one.
If I am drilling something big I can haul out an extension cord and one of the corded drill with all the power of Hoover dam, the "snowy mountain project", or a nuclear reactor (Or 20 amps... which ever comes first).
But when I am on a ladder, roof, attic, etc I usually want something small light and easy to manage and the need for a manly drill goes down linearly with how high off the ground I go.
A Domino is a unique tool and Festoolmakes sense.
Drills are ubiquitous, so unless the battery platform makes sense then it's not clear that the drills make sense.
And a lot of people like them.
