Festool Dust Extractor / Setup for woodturning?

Did some searching here and online but not finding anything.  Do folks successfully utilize the CT's as dust collection for turning or does it not capture enough airspace to do so successfully?

Thoughts, tips?

A funnel comes to mind. I use the extractor and

clean as I go but haven't built anything yet.

Yeah, funnel was considered...hoping someone has tested this before I spend.  Thinking not a usual usage given the lack of findings.

To my mind you'd need to capture more air volume and over a greater area. In the perfect world a booth or an area with a curtain ... Wood turning is a messy affair!

I use a dust collection system for turning ,(4" hose) I can't see the small vac hoses on the CT vacs working very well at collecting the big shavings from turning and the amount .  Maybe if your turning small items like pens .

On the odd occasion I do some turning, I wear a mask when doing the bulk of the turning, although I am not sure there is much fine dust being created- it seems to be mainly big chips. Certainly my automatic air purifier does not change from its low setting indicating it cannot detect any dust.

When I come to the little bit of sanding at the end of the turning, I hold my CT vac hose next to the lathe with one hand and and I sand with the other. I can see the dust being sucked into the hose. Seems to capture what is created and it works for me.

I wouldn't bother.  You want something that moves a lot more air through a bigger hose.  An inexpensive portable dust collector with a single bag and a 4" hose would work a lot better.  You can use it as a leaf vacuum too, in addition to woodworking uses.

The Festool CTs are brilliant extractors but as most people have said - you need more volume of air to be sucked.

The Festool extractors are High Pressure Low Volume but for your needs (and a planning machine, bandsaw) you need High Volume Low Pressure.

I use a 2HP cyclone dust collector attached to a 4X10 inch "funnel" for my lathe. The Festool vacs  are point source collectors and not wide area collectors.
