Festool Edgebander.

Prices of the Conturo are mentioned on the following German website elektrowerkzeug-shop
- KA 65 Conturo Plus 574605 € 2.419 incl. VAT
- KA 65 Conturo Set 574613 € 2.699 incl. VAT
- KB-KA 65 SYS 500177 € 439

The machine must be smaller than it looks - says it comes in a sys4.

I had assumed it wouldn't come in a systainer, since; a) it's more of a 'production' machine, rather than something you'd take on-site, and b) I thought it would be too big to fit in even a sys5.

Unless it's just the accessories that come in the sy4?

I agree that it is more of a small-medium scale production tool but shop fitters, some kitchen guys and institutional fitters would all make use of it on site.

Would be nice to see in the USA.  I've been eyeing the Felder Forka but I'm interested in any improvements that Festool has come up with.

As for price, I think its relative to what the market already offers.

I'm willing to go out on a limb and say this will be available in NA sooner than later. From what I overheard today, our local rep will have a demo unit in 5/6 weeks.

I also overheard the reps were in training last week for the conturo.

I took a look last night at the Festool UK web site and there is a huge amount of new information there, including pricing for all the bits and pieces.

You can also download the manual in pdf format - this is the best manual that Festool have ever produced. In fact I would describe it as a good read. I read it from beginning to end.

Here is the link to the product page:

Jonathan, you don't need the whole MFT table but can just buy the replacement top which holds the edge bander. #500366.

Just catching up on this topic, but there's also (from what I understand) a template for cutting your existing MFT top.

the template will probably cost just as much as the top  [crying]

there is a template included with the machine to allow for user made tops

I am having a 'Doh' moment !

Anyway it is a good piece of work and far better than any instruction set that I have seen before.

Just a thought, the mft plate seems like its an odd idea. Why is there not a cms module for this machine? This just doesn't seem to fit with the "system" the CMS principal is Designed for this application?

Just my two pennies.

Also I'd love to hear more about the multi tool the OP mentioned, my fein is vibrating a lot after 10 years of service.

From what I have been told cms is being replaced soon with a dedicated table saw unit so that might be why?

They already have table saws the cs50 & 70,  the CMS system is more then a table saw, you have the router insert, belt sander, jig saw and ts55 & 75 inserts.

Just for my thinking the Edgebander is a better fit to that "system" then fitting it in an MFT?

Like i said just my two pennies.
