Festool End-User Training ? Participants Needed for Trial-Run

To most of the people that got selected, where have you guys been?  I haven't seen you guys before.  At first I thought all you guys were new members because I haven't seen your name before.  The more participation here the better!  I really enjoy this forum and what everyone has to say.

There has been too much drama here for me to hang out all the time.

I use this place for one thing, questions, tips and tricks for Festool.

Lot of good carpenters here, just dont need the drama.

I was going to take my camera as well.

For all the people that didn't get in.  Remember that this is a test run for future classes.  You will get your chance sometime soon hopefully.  Basically we are the Gennie Pigs for this test run so that future classes can offer the best of the best.  I assume.

For the guys who are going to Lebanon...  Does anyone have the after market table saw accessory built by Steve Jones?  I know lugging a MFT isn't practicable, but even a peek at his set-up would be cool.  Please consider bringing it to the "after party"  .

I was chumped last week when I was 175 miles from home and needed to trim a couple of 1/4 x 3/4" pieces of scribe on a final punch.  I did ok with a plane and belt sander, but took an hour longer than if I had Steve's set-up.  I'm seriously in the market for his set up.

Thanks, Dan

For those going to Lebanon, what is the general thinking on lodging. Stay at the Festool rec. Fairfield or stay in Lebanon motel. Just wondering, Indy seems like a fair distance from Lebanon on the map.

I'm booked at the Fairfield 5905 W 86th Street. Festool will pick us up there as I understand it.  Minnie set up the reservations.  About 78.00 per night.  I didn't ask here about anything in Lebanon.  Maybe she could shed some light on the subject.

Fairfield Inn it is then. See you all there. I guess I'll arrive late in the day on the 30th. Who's the early bird to get to the lobby/restaurant to make sure there's a table for a dozen? ;D

I could be wrong, but I'm sensing a little gloating going on here.

Really didn't mean it that way, Sorry.

Hey guys, I hope you know I'm just yanking your chain a little.  Don't go all serious on me. ;)

There were probably hundreds of applicants for this event, and only a handful could be chosen. I doubt that anyone has any hard feelings over that.

But, we will require a full report.  :)

I will probably stay at a friends place down there.

Or a hotel close to a bar.

I wont leave to go there untill that morning.  I can leave the house by 6 and be there at about 8.

Fairlfield on W86th in Indy?

Congrats to all who have received this oppurtunity. You will learn allot from Brian and possibly Steve! They really know their stuff

Conrgatulations to all those who were chosen and I trust that you will both enjoy yourselves and learn a lot.

I was too late to apply, but maybe I will be able to do so in the future.

Cheers,  Frank

Since this is basicly the "test run" for future customer training classes, I'm assuming we are doing this to work out the kinks and such?  At the end of the last day is there going to be time set aside for the participants to give feedback and review what we liked about the class, what we didn't like, what we would change/remove/add?  Also, will we be requested to write a review on the forum to kinda of "promote" the class for future customers that would like to attend a class?

As of right now, whats the plan for how often the classes will be held?  Will a class only be held if it's a full class so that way a class is not scheduled or a date is selected until 10 people have sign up for the class or will a class be pre-scheduled and continue if say you have room for 10 students but only 7 signed up?

Do we have a ballpark of what one of these training sessions would cost?

I've been talking to some people in my shop and I already have 3-4 guys that are interested in attending one of these classes so i'm just trying to get some basic information.

Dave,

Though we've put on a few end-user events in the past, we do see this as an opportunity to work out a few details, and also to get some good feedback on what participants might like to see in future classes.  And yes, there will definitely be an opportunity for open-discussion on the class itself on the second day.

Our expectation is to get more classes scheduled throughout the rest of the year, but this, as well as cost, is still up in the air.  I expect to make some decisions on this by the time you guys get out of here on Tuesday.

We can cover more topics in greater detail during your visit.  My primary goal for next week is to get the input necessary to make this the most engaging and valuable experience possible for our end-users.

I look forward to seeing you then.

Michael

Been on vacation, so I haven't had a chance to check the forum, but I've been lucky enough to be selected.  Many thanks to Festool for including me in the group and I am looking forward to meeting the rest of the participants.

By the time you load your truck up with all the new tools you NEED, it shouldn't come to more than a few grand.  ;D  ;D  ;D

Actually,

The good thing about going to this training class is that Festool USA does not have a retail store for us to buy anything.  What a blessing. ;D
