Festool Failure

I've only bought a couple of Festool tools to date. So far I've bought the Domino 500 and the TS55 both with some of the accessories.

However today I have to say I've had a catastrophic failure. As much as I really like the brand and the tools I cannot believe how bad the quality is of materials used that was the cause of today's failure.

Whilst putting the domino away I noticed my "Festool Fan" sticker and thought it was about time I stuck it up. I have a shelf with my battery tools on it and a MDF edge that would be perfect for the sticker. So up it went and it looked good. Within 30 minutes it had peeled off!

Poor quality from Festool and not what I expect! :-)

Probably user error for keeping it for 9 months before using it, maybe it was past its best before date?

Although I suspect the real reason was that it was on a shelf containing Ryobi tools and it didn't want to be associated with them!

Actually your sticker is working as designed. We've spent years and invested millions into developing proprietary, cutting edge technology that causes our stickers to fall off when within 5 feet of non-Festool tools. (I can't reveal how it works, it requires that they're manufactured on the island from "Lost".) Consider yourself warned.  [big grin]

I'll take it as an endorsement that my Festool Fan sticker has stayed on my Milwaukee jobsite radio for 3 months and counting at this point.

Dang, I wondered why my festool sticker peeled off the $100 domino I bought from a guy on ebay...  Now that I think of it, it was more of a slot cutter...makes sense why it only accepted biscuits and not dominos...come to think of it that green color never did seem right...  I just thought some guy named Ryobi put his name on it at the factory...

was the sticker metric or imperial? depending on the size of the shelf, it can be an issue.

[member=10147]jobsworth[/member]  I don't have authorization to reveal what will happen if you do, but I'll just warn you to wear protective eyewear and fireproof gloves. Also, increase your life insurance policy beforehand.

There's a special tool Festool have designed for fitting the fan sticker to the edge of shelves. It's called the Conturo. When you use it the sticker melts and makes a real mess - but you do then have a Conturo [wink]

Also when I set up my sticker it never comes out square.

You need to get the Woodpeckers One Time Tool ... The StickerPecker ... Pefectly square stickers every time - comes with 20 different shim sets for different size stickers.

(All shims are imperial)

I saw that but $559 for a stickpecker is very expensive. I can get one from Woodcraft or Veritas for only $229 that does the same thing

I wonder if can I use my mafel or makita stickers on my festool systainers?

I'm pretty sure the use of any third party accessories voids the Festool warranty.

[member=57769]TylerC[/member] Am I correct on this?

Ken

Probably the same adhesive that they use to stick the label to the systainers. Or am I the only one who has the auto peel stickers.

So I'm still not sure if it's covered under warranty. I really would like a replacement!

My Harbor Freight Sticker is still going strong, I'm using to hold the fence on my Harbor Freight Sliding Compound Miter Saw.
