Festool Failure

Actually this is not covered under warranty.  Only items with a serial number are covered under warranty.

Probably the same adhesive that they use to stick the label to the systainers. Or am I the only one who has the auto peel stickers.

It's a feature. The adhesive on the sticker is timed so it falls off when you should replace your old tool with the latest model.  You can then repurpose the systainer for something else without the hassle of having to peel the label yourself.

That's crazy to hear, I recently tried to scrape off a Festool sticker from my tool box and it immediately dulled the razor blade. I tried sanding it off but as soon as the paper touched the sticker, all the granules fell off. Put a torch to it and the flame snuffed out right away. Finally just beat on the tool box with a hammer and the darn thing fixed itself like Christine from the Stephen King novel....

True story [cool] [tongue]

Send me some of what you're taking please ... mark the parcel "emergency medical supplies" [wink]

I think I have a solution, to getting the sticker on level without spending all tha cash on a stickerpecker. I'll use my CT wing and a laser with my 4 ft stabilization level...
I might be able to get the sticker level that way, but will it stick

Great Idea about the conturo Kev. I'll seek it to the wife,

"Honny I need to spend the $3K for this tool so I can get these cool sticker to stick to these plastic boxes and to get it level ?"

Tell us the truth now .. is that really any less plausible than all of your other Festool purchasing excuses? [big grin]

The corner of my sticker came slightly unpeeled. The cat saw the opportunity, ripped it off and tore it to shreds. I'm still pretty gutted and not sure if I'll buy Festool again.

I could teach you how to make your cat go "woof", but the cat lovers here would probably complain [wink]

Also when I set up my sticker it never comes out square.

You need to get the Woodpeckers One Time Tool ... The StickerPecker ... Pefectly square stickers every time - comes with 20 different shim sets for different size stickers.

(All shims are imperial)

Ha kev you beat me too it

But I was going to go with the " stickerpecker pro"

But to be sensible (I know unlike me )

To answer the op,s question it is normally very difficult to stick any thing self adhesive to raw M.D.F as its a very dusty surface especially on the edges

We have problems with masking tape. Protection tape .sometimes self adhesive Velcro (we had to staple it as well to make it stay put)

A coat of sealer first would help

Then you could salvage the sticker with some spray adhesive

P.s can't believe my longest post in about a year is about a festool fan sticker lol
Maybe that says a lot

Oh no - not another 'let's slag off' Festool thread!

Believe many of the points made are covered in the:
"Sticky Label Supplementary Manual" written by you know who.
Seem to remember there are three versions of these labels:
Concave, Convex and Flat.
Also mentioned, I'm sure, are such important parameters as
ambient temperature / humidity; and, the importance of
acclimatisation - not sure nine months is enough.

Would also suggest need to gain lots of experience of the appropriate
techniques needed with the different labels.

[member=43879]DiscoStu[/member] Message me w/ your address, and I'll get you some new stickers.

They should use the same adhesive on this as the one used on the stickers they slap on your systainer when it comes back after being serviced. Those are impossible to remove and leave all the glue on the systainer, cleaning it of with solvent makes the green paint dissolve and melts the ABS :(

Jeeeesus, you guys call yourself carpenters? Now here's how i fix my stickers.
I take my Paslode nail gun , in with some 90mm nails : 2 into the upper left corner of the sticker, 2 into upper right and Bob' s your uncle..

Message sent! Fantastic thanks

I think the post must be really slow these days.

Since this time I've bought quite a lot of Festool tools and I've only ever had one sticker.
