Festool Fall offerings

The Hand sanding blocks, I see that they take the 150mm sand paper.  Could you use the 125 sand paper for those of us who already only have 125 sand paper?  I'm assuming any other brand sandpaper will work on this as well?

i'm really looking forward to those sanding blocks! I used them for years in Germany and can assure you that they fit your hand very well.
Anyhow, I'm not sure if I will be using the festool sand paper with them. I'm afraid the holes will catch on some wood fibers and rip out a junk. But that doesn't mean that you can use any other brand of paper without holes  ;D

and in November:

You asked for it, you got it...
a Drill mounted LED that also doubles as a headlamp with the included strap.

A 48" lighted level made by Stabila for Festool. I sell Stabila and so far, other than this offer, you can only get their lighted levels as a set of 48" & 24" together.

Lastly, a 2-Meter Folding Ruler with both metric and imperial scales also made by Stabila.

Tom

I like the level.  I already own a Stablia 24" and 48".  Same model as the Festool level and I enjoy them.  I may have to sell my 48" one so I can pick up the Festool 48" level to add more green to my garage.

Will of of these new items be in the 2010 catalog?  I don't know if Festool ever makes anything and just doesn't put it in their catalog like some people.

I'm not sure, Dave, but I think the catalogs only contain normal offerings. I can't recall seeing any promotional offerings in the catalogs.

Some of the previous promotions, like the boom arm set and Kapex blade set are now regular offerings so I would expect to see them in future catalogs.

Tom

Tom, thanks, I didn't realize all of these items were promo items.  I thought some of them, at least, were here to stay.

i would certainly buy the folding ruler! Have used them for years till I moved to Canada... miss them quite a lot ;)

Tom,

What you have listed, is this all the promo items for the fall promotion or will there be other items on sale such as tools?

Tom,

I am interested in all three of these items.  Just a couple of questions about the light...

1)  Will it somehow be tool activated or will there be an on/off switch?
2)  Will it be adaptable for use on the domino?  I have addressed this in my Festool Wish List Thread.  I think this would be a popular feature.

This is everything I know about, Dave.

I think you're right. I suspect the items that have normal numbering (without the "M" prefix) are regulars. Those would include the drills, SYS-2 Attic, sanding blocks, and drill light.

Though I haven't seen it, I'm pretty sure it just has a switch. It comes with a headband to make it a headlamp so that makes me think switch. It apparently has a ring that it mounts to that goes behind the chuck.

UPDATE... I just learned that it does use a switch.

Great stuff Tom, very informative.  Can't wait to see that light and the level.

Again, thanks for the knowledge.

Coming from Festool in October:

T15+3 and T 12+3 Drills with no Eccentric or Right Angle Chucks

The Systainer that became famous with the Lithium-Ion Drills, the SYS 2 Attic.

Three new Hand Sanding Blocks and a Hand Sanding Block Set in a Free SYS MINI.

Tom

Tom,

I was just on your website.  I check out the sanding blocks.  It looked as if there are for sale now?

Dave, if you look at the individual blocks you'll see that they aren't available until Oct. 1, the set of three blocks have the same 10/1 release date but it's not noted on Tom's site.

Tom,

Do you know if these promotions will only have a limited supply of each item?

Tom, I'll use this thread to remind you (and Festool) that I am waiting to buy the HEPAs for the Midi.  ;D
