OK, yes, I know Festool doesn't call it that.  But I just spent the last few days installing a floating laminate floor in one of my rental homes.  The combination of the TS55, MFT, and CT26 was awesome, dozens and dozens of precise, chipout-free cuts with virtually no dust.  I really could have used the new Carvex for working around the doors, though  [sad], my old Craftsman Pro jigsaw works OK but it's very messy and not the most precise beast

I'm moving on to the trim now, with all these non-square corners I really wish I could swing the cost of a Kapex.

We've installed numerous laminate floors that way. It's great to be able to do the cutting in the room without any of that terrible dust from the laminate floors.

Tom Bellemare recommended a particular blade for the Trion jigsaw, which works well with laminate.  I'd have to check for the number, or maybe Tom can post it here for future reference for other readers.

Rob:

I recommended 486553 for fast cutting laminate flooring. I'm glad it worked out for you.

Wood Nerd,

I too have wanted the Carvex on the job and am waiting to replace a DeWalt Jig that does an okay job.

I do flooring among other things. You will find that the Kapex will be of great value on a flooring job, for all of  your end cuts. Really reduces the use of a jig.

If you do a lot of floors you might ask you local pro where to by a floor saw that will allow you to under cut the trim in the US they are not sold to the public only pros. That will allow you to put the flooring under the trim. The floor saw is not need if you do few flooring jobs only.

You talk about having rental(s) property, so you might do more.  Do you have a Fein Multimaster? If not you would find it very helpful for many tasks. It is great for flooring also. Festool as nothing that competes with it. You take your pad and a piece of laminate to give you height of the floor and  you put your Multimaster on top of that and you cut the door trim to fit. Then you can slip your flooring under the trim and get a much cleaner look.

I'm sure you know that if you put laminates into kitchens or bathrooms (I don't recommend using it bathroom) you have to lay a bead of silicone into the 1/4 inch perimeter gap or you void most all manufacturers warranty.

Cheers,
Steve
