I'm sorry to ask this question , I'm sure it's been asked 1000 times ... What hose adapter do I need to go from a 36 mm hose to standard 1 1/4 tools ....  Just bought a new CT 26 ,  don't want to use my heavy sears shop vac hoses , thank you , Mike

Hi,

Welcome to the FOG!  [smile]

Just to be clear for people answering.. you also bought the D36 hose?  The one that comes with the CT is a D27.

I am not sure that there is a good adapter available. I had this problem when using the D27 hose. I was able to find some (by chance) cleaning tools that would sort of fit.  I finally  got tired of fiddling with adapters and such and bought the compact cleaning set.  That set (and the other Festool sets) will work with both D27 and D36 hoses.  The option of individual cleaning tools is available from Festool also.

Flexible (rubber type) plumbing adapters at big box stores will usually have something that fits.

I use this to connect to the Festool power tool dust port. You can also use it by inserting the backend into the D36 cuff  and the front end into the 1 1/4" hand tool but I only do that when switching from the power tool to a hand tool for cleanup. If I'm doing a lot of cleanup I prefer to pull this out of the D36 cuff and insert a curved wand and then attach the curved wand to the hand tool.

see additional links in the product description.

The hose end cuff in picture 3 is the similar to the D36 cuff and would function in a similar manner.

For a curved wand you can use the Festool version. I prefer this tool instead and replace the Festool D36 cuff w/the cuff shown in the second link. Both the curved wand and the adaptor above snap in and lock into the replacement cuff shown in the third link.

So that first item converts the D36 hose (tool end) to a D27 (tool end) connector in one compact handy piece.  Seems pretty useful  [thumbs up]

When removed from the hose, Festool's Reducing Sleeve for the D27 (487071) will also fit into the D36's larger Reducing Sleeve, thus also converting the D36 hose...  Just saying.

OK, so its basically the same thing. Does the Festool 487071 fit tight enough to stay in?

Yes, the fit is rather tight -- almost too tight to fit, but it will go.  Plus it is antistatic and something you already have on hand.  [big grin]

Course if it is going to be used regularly an extra would be better than taking it off the D27 hose all the time.

I have a feeling that all of this is not really what Painter is after though.
