I understand 3 speeds modes, but what is T mode??

T-mode is most likely for driving TEKS sheet metal screws. On other brands of impacts with that mode, it initially spins fast until the screw tip penetrates the metal and then slows down so as to not overdrive the screw.

As much as I love getting sneak previews on new tools, if you have to share this kind of material, maybe at least remove the personal information of Festool employees ...

And a couple of months back, it was the "leaked" PowerPoint presentation that also had the full name and department of a FT employee in it.
I got paid to see stuff like this in a former job. (Same for stuff like "toolless recording")
Alas, none of my business anyway. I should have kept sitting on my hands. I apologize!

Looks alright to me, decent short length. No faffing about with expensive Centrotec bits?
And they got rid of that spazzy flippy out belt hook they had on one of the drills in favour of just a plain one thats a decent size.
If it's priced well enough it might be a Gateway Tool that people buy first then get other tools after.

Management climbdown can be pretty slow, it can take a few years for a problematic manager to work their way through the system and either leave or get quietly sidelined to somewhere they can't do any harm.
Or it could be a totally different reason, who knows.
I remember talking to a Festool sales rep last year. He said they spend a lot of time (years) to make sure the tools are (in their mind) perfect in every way before they put out a product. They don't just throw a tool out in the wild without making it to Festool standards. I guess its better to be a year or 2 late but have a superior product over the competition.
Reps will say a lot of things.
I recall one saying there were no Kapex motor problems long after they'd surfaced and Corp. was aware.
Perhaps tooless recording is something novel, but nothing else I see is superior to other brands. Lots have over molded grips, are light, have illumination, multiple modes, belt hooks and EC motors. Got to get one in the hand to tell if it's ergonomically better - something Festool has excelled at. Historically Festool's drivers have been middle of the pack performance wise when compared with others.
Then there was the last version which wasn't long lived, so I suspect it's being gun shy more than anything.
Does anyone know if it's a hydraulic drive ?
Should still be a quality tool.

For me, its just got to be a rattle gun.
Reliable, decent power, short.
Rattle guns aren't rocket science, they just have to work, quieter would be nice.
No daft idiosyncrasies, pick it up I want em to just work.
I have a great Hitachi with several modes but realistically I hardly ever use anything other than the fastest power setting and modulate it with my trigger finger. Thats even when I'm doing jobs that those modes are specificalky designed for. I guess that means I couldn't care less about all the modes.
If it's as good as my Hitachi I'd be hapoy enough and it might even convince me to get some Festool drills which I have so far avoided.
