I would like to know if anyone would buy an impact driver if festool decided to make one.

I use these little tools every day of the week.

I have went through 3 this year.
The hilti 14.4 volt model which I talked negatively about last year turned out to have a burnt out circuit board.
once the new electronics were installed it turned out to be fantastic........
until I dropped it 8 metres off a roof onto to concrete.

My little makitas are ok, but dont have the same muscle that the hilti had.

I would also like to know from festool if they have anything in the pipeline, as it has been over a year from the last impact driver discussion?

Thanks, Justin.

Yes indeed, Protool makes two of them.
Festool is aimed at woodworkers and Protool at builders and for heavy use.
I don't think Festool will copy the impact drivers from Protool.

Hi Justin

We have 4 impact drivers in our company (including 2 of the Hilti 14 volt model you have) and use the heck out of them. I would consider buying Festool drills and an impact model (if they sold one), but the main problem for me is the mess of brands and batteries that we already have.  I don't want to add another brand to the mix until some of the current tools and batteries die off.

I have about 4, after buying my C12 three years ago they just collect dust. NO more ears ringing or head rattling. And I don't feel I've given up productivity.

.

hmmm, this came up in another thread a little while ago,

I have the C-!2 in my arsenal of drills and drivers and the T-15 is on my short list.
But the best Impact Driver to date thus far is the Hilti Lithium impact driver.
Which I use generally for driving in 5/16 GRK screws four to six inches long.
It has two torque settings, three little LED lights and the battery sports a scale showing the amount of charge left.
So you know the battery won't quit while your up on the ladder or on a roof.
I very happy with it.

That said, I can't wait till Festool comes out with theirs.
I would hope they would incorporate the multiple use heads and a charge scale into it.

I've been using my Bosch 14.4v impact driver for lighter-duty jobs where impact is needed, but prefer the Milwaukee corded model for deck work where I need 1/2" drive capabilities, including doing brake work and tire rotation on my truck.  I sure do wish that Festool would bring out a battery-operated model which would be wonderful for doing cabinet work.  My C12 is the mainstay now, but having the impact capability would be so much better.

Yeah, after using a small 10.8V Makita impact, I can say I'm sold.  No wrist tweaking torque, and no worries about the drill doing the knuckle busting spin if your grip slips. Just drive your screw.  If Festool came out with an impact, especially one with an adjustable clutch, it would be on my short list.

Make a small one and pair it up with the new CXS, and I'm pretty sure it would be a hit with the cabinet guys.

I would get one.

The Protool drivers are actually impact wrenches that can also drive a screw. I have tried one out in the store but I found it far too heavy. It is meant for bolts and nuts and the fact that you can stick a hex bit in it is just an extra little option but not it's main reason of existence.

They are impact wrenches not drivers

Far to big to be called impact drivers

its not a matter of size just a different animal. most impact drivers are around the 150nm range whereas the protool impact wrench is 300nm

I don't think it is likely that Festool will add an impact driver to their product line and, even if they did, I probably could not justify buying it.  I am very happy with my inexpensive Ryobi impact driver and am likely to stick to it.

Ah, but Frank,,,,,,,

The new Festool Impact driver will be like pulling a rabbit out of a magicians hat, enabling you to enter worlds unseen.

Then again I would be worried about it falling overboard on your boat on the way to your island.

Probably a better fate for your Ryobi. [poke]

Hi Peter and neeleman.

Just to clarify, the protool impact wrench model no. IWC 18-2 is 100 percent a cordless wrench.
It is 100 percent not an impact driver.

I was kindly loaned the impact wrench by my local festool/protool sales rep for a period of one week.

For someone who requires a cordless impact wrench, this is a great tool to buy.
But for someone who requires an impact driver, this is not the tool you want to buy.

It will take a 1/4 inch philips head bit, but there is no way to lock the bit inside the wrench socket.
I ended up with 3 seperate socket adapters which would then accept a 1/4 inch philips head.
Thats too many moving parts when a normal impact driver does not require any extra parts apart from the 1/4 inch adapter which locks directly into the impact chucks ball detent.

I am not trying to talk negatively about this particular tool.
I am just describing my experiences with the tool this past week.
I love my protool 18 volt cordless drill and I sure hope festool/protool add more toys to this fantastic range.

Regards, Justin.

the latest i have heard......

15.6 volts  (18 volts at a later stage)

with belt clip and l.e.d light.

it will be a drill/driver combo.

it will be compatible with centrotec chucks and angle attachments.

it will not run quiet, it will be same noise level as other brands.

i will have photos of mine in 1 month approx!

the wait is killing me!!!
