Festool Jigsaw - gone jelly

Hey all,

I opened up the box of my new Festool Jigsaw, used it for a few hours (heavy use) and it was great... i had no movement in the blade and it was solid (setup in the table).

A few hours of usage, and i started to see a lot of sideways movement in the blade, resulting in a sloppy cut. I was starting the cut at an arch point in the timber, and instead of carving through it like butter, exactly where i intended it to start (and like it had done all day), it started rubbing and sliding sideways,  before cutting into the good side of my timber.

Anyone else had this problem? and potentially a solution? it has almost rendered the jigsaw useless to me.

Thanks!
T

Is it the new Carvex ?

If so then you have one of the early ones that this problem is common on.  There is a couple of threads on here that discuss the problem.  Mine does the same & i will be sending it back for repair.

Woodguy.

If you do have a carvex I would send it back. Actually if it is a trion I would send it back too. It is still new right?

I know you will miss it but it doesn't seem to be of much use like that by the sounds of it.

i recommend talking to your dealer.
obviously this is not normal for a brand new tool.
can you state whether you have the older trion jigsaw or the new carvex?

What a shame! I'll give my dealer a call, thanks for the news. It is the new capex, only 3 weeks old and was the first time I used it.

Bummer!

Sorry to hear this, but just out of curiosity, which table setup were you using ?

kind regards, Mike

Hi Mike. Thanks.

I was using the single leg CMS table alongside the MFT3 as an extension. I had it mounted in the base plate that it came with.
