Hello FOG,

I am planning to buy the new MFKC 700. I will need both vertical bases but only one machine. It seems that the edge-banding version will be available sooner. Is it possible to buy the vertical flat base separately? if yes, does anyone know the product code?

Thank you in advance

If you mean the zero-degree base, yes. AFAIK that is the only way it can be purchased. The EQ set version comes with the 1.5 degree version. While the EQ/B has neither of the alternate bases.
The item number is 491427
If you want the base from the "set"? I'm not sure. Maybe as a spare (repair) part, from the EKat system? Though maybe not, it's an "assembly" You might be able to get all of the parts separately though. Might take some digging in the catalog.
It might also be helpful to know what country you are in.

I am aware of the two horizontal bases (0 and 1,5 degrees). I know that it is possible to buy the edge banding vertical base separately (500590). My question is about the flat vertical base. I am located in Poland by the way

Not quite sure what you're looking for...are you looking for the vertical base?

If so, it's available from Festool spares but it's not cheap. Part number 495674 at a cost of $250.

Yes, thank you. This is what I was looking for. Can I ask you where do you get these part numbers from?

In the US, it looks like they discontinued the EQ/B version of the router.

They still sell the EQ/B vertical base as an accessory, but as best I can tell the “standard” vertical base comes with every new router sold and is only available separately as a spare part.

Is that a new development, or am I just behind the times?

Just curious what the difference is between the EU and the US version?
The NA version is threaded for Porter-Cable style bushings and the European version is not.
To my knowledge, the main difference(of the EQ base) is the thicker sub-base, that lifts the rest of the base above the overhanging edge. That can be accomplished in the shop, for a lot less than an entire base.
The other difference is the bearing brake, but I dislike them. At a quick glance, it seems right, in practice( or a longer look) it is not. Stopping the bearing, means that you are constantly dragging a solid steel disc against the edging.
It also means that every second that motor is running, is spinning the bit, while the bearing is not. This cannot be good. With a "free" bearing, the bit and bearing spin together, until the bearing makes contact. Then it "rolls" along your edging, not scraping against it.
This comes from experience with the Cantek router, that come with a portable edgebander, that my former employer has. It is similar to the Conturo, though not as sophisticated. It was great for curved parts, that the big industrial machines couldn't handle.
