Festool OF 1400 Router lighting options?

It's time for Festool to simply upgrade their routers. Come on they are all long in the tooth and the OF2200 at 900.00 certainly should have a high power adjustable intensity led ring, among other upgrades.

It' been what 7 years since the OF 2200 has seen any kind of upgrade? It's actually aggravating.

Festool  Quit wasting time with homeowner priced so called Pro sanders and please pay attention to the top end where your true niche is.

Problem is the profit on 2 or 3 sanders is probably more than one OF2200,
and I bet the sales numbers will have the sanders out in front once they
catch on. So if you're trying to keep the home office and stockholders happy,
you go after the product with the higher profit margin.

That may or may not be true, but lets get real in the actual pro5 debacle they lost money. The Led statement goes for the entire line of routers and drills, everything needs an Led in 2017. Business is all about making money, so it's difficult  to argue when a person brings up money, but Festool really needs this router update.

The Carvex  was a flop, the pro5 was a flop, the Kapex has a huge motor problem everyone is aware of.  Now they need hit, a router upgrade knocked out of park to get people back on board. That's what I would be telling my team of tool designers if I was at the top of Festool. Make us forget about the failures.

I already let my Trion sit on a shelf, sold my TS 55, TS 75 and Carvex. Two pro 5 I have on a shelf I probably will sell. Now if I am doing this stuff I know loads more people are too, so Festool needs to look at the over all picture.

As far as making more money on a sander they sold for 99.99 there is simply no way in heck it had a profit margin higher than an OF2200. I am betting they make more on the OF2200 individually to compensate for selling less of them. Other tool companies are catching up fast, I just dont see why Festool would wait on a router update much longer.

Especially if the Shaper turns out to be the game changer it appears it will be.

Just received a Mafell jig saw today...I will definitely put my Trion & the Carvex down the road. The levels of sophistication and elegance in this jig saw are hard to believe. All mating/sliding  surfaces on this saw are machined/flycut. It is such a huge difference in machining finesse from one manufacturer to another that's it's hard to explain.

Unfortunately for Festool, now that I own a P1cc and the commensurate rail, will a new Mafell track saw be far behind?  I've been underwhelmed with the power on the TS 55.
I still like the TSC 55 but I think Festool needs to amp up their prowess several levels.

I wasn't thinking of the Pro5. That was a promotion more or less
meant to stimulate interest in their sander line was it not?

It is coming back as a permanent sander. The NAME Pro 5 was a promotional deal as was the dark blue Systainer, but the sander itself is coming back exactly the same as the ETS 125 REQ.

I've read this discussion and have a question:

is Festool listening to their customers and improving their tools on this one ?

Or are they too busy boxing up battery sanders ?

I'm reminded of a recent Domino discussion in which many postulated (and some outright said , though erroneously ) that Festool in changed the pins on the domino to tabs because "they listened to customer feedback and ""improved"" the tool accordingly. ".

Customers asking for lights in Festool routers is a pretty old discussion, but where's the improvement ? Or even acknowledgement that there will be a study ?

Are we throwing in the towel Festool ; conceding that brands like Dewalt and that king of the homecenter tool aisle -Ridgid- make better routers ? They have lights in them, and have for a while. They're as powerful as comparable OF models , and have dust collection too.

Or was the "we listen to the customer" line from the Domino discussion a bunch of bunk ?

And the real question:  When are integrated lights going to be offered on Festool routers ?

Perhaps the concerns of people who worry about whether or not all their tools match each other are not as important as you would like them to be. Go shine a light into the extended dust chamber of a 2200 while it's plunged and running and tell me what you can see through the dust film that accumulates instantaneously. After that, you can send a furious tweet to some intern at Purdy because the paint brush you bought can't send text messages or remind you to take your heart pills.

Nat, perhaps you missed that this thread is not about the OF2200 ?

I'd tend to agree that lighting on that would not be useful , especially when it's mounted in a table .............Another thing FT USA seemingly can't be bothered with.

Your comment about Purdy brushes is simply absurd.    ::)

Cheaper and much lighter:

Dont need up to 450 lumens for up close work like using a router.

Are you a CandlePowerForum member perhaps?  The Fenix is indeed a good choice for indoor use.  Mine does double duty for outdoor work, like snow blowing during those cold winter nights.  I don't hike with it though, because the moths keep flying into my face.
