When will the Festool PDC 18/4 Li 4,2 QUADRIVE be available in the US ?

I'm proud owner of a Protool PDC and i'm looking for a nice gift for my father in law in the US.
The Festool PDC would be a nice christmas gift for him :-)

Regards
Heiko

First -  [welcome] to the FOG!

To the best of my knowledge there has not been an announcement on if or when the expanded Festool line will come to the US.  Historically the tool availability here is less than in other parts of the world and if made available they are introduced later than elsewhere.

Heiko, welcome to the forum.

In addition to what Peter shared, I don't currently have any information regarding the potential release of the Quadrive in the US/Canada. I can guarantee that it won't be available this year.

THX for the quick response.

Umph ... the PDC would have been the perfect gift. A genius allround all purpose cordless drill. Maybe next year ....

Ship him one and help him to source a local charger. He'll be the envy of the US.

Did some research. The results: Shipping, customs and a local charger will cost as much as the drill it self  [eek]
Also spare parts, especially centrotec masonry drills, and service won't be available in the US (at the moment).  :(

I also don't know how much he could make use of metric drills. Last time i've been to the US ( a decade ago ) even screw anchors were imperial sized.
I think i would have to ship him loads of metric wall plugs and screws too.  [wink]

Buffalo, when you call it a "metric" drill what are you referring to? Is the Centrotec chuck in Europe designed to take a metric size hexagonal shaft instead of a 1/4"?

I referred to the size of the available centrotec masonry drill bits. They're available in metric sizes only at the moment.

AFAIK the common sizes for US wall plugs/anchors and screws are still not metric. Please correct me if im wrong.
Is it hard to get metric sized wall plugs and screws like these in the US ?

I can't speak for the USA but here in Canada we use a lot of gauged/imperial screws and anchors still.

Even though I grew up with the metric system in school I quickly learned that I live in an imperial world. I don't mind imperial measurements/sizes, granted I do see a lot of 10mm stuff around.
