I was perusing the Festool USA Website and noticed that some of the polishes have made their way over to this side of the pond.  It was probably posted here and I missed it.  Maybe some of you did also.  I know that there has been a lot of interest over the years so here is a link:  Festool Polishes for NA

Thanks, now we'll have a zillion threads pop up wondering what the advantage of each of them is, why the coarser grit costs $10 more per bottle for the same quantity of polish, whether they apply to finishes on wood products or are for polishing metal, are they compatible with other brands, etc...

(what are those answers, by the way  ;D)

EDIT: ok, the bigger question... how come the Shinex is classified as a sanding accessory in NA instead of as a tool?

EDIT 2: actually, it's not... it isn't listed at all unless you search for it...

One of the advantages is that they are water-based, so easy clean up. It also makes it pretty easy to determine the level of polish since the grit-equivalent is given, we currently offer 5000 and 8000.

They can be used for any polishing application, regardless of material, as far as I'm aware. I've used them on lacquer, Plexiglas, and automotive clear coat. I've not used them on metal but I see no reason that they couldn't be used directly on bare metal.

We don't discuss pricing strategy, so no comment on the pricing.

And, the Shinex is consider a tool, not an accessory.

If my memory is correct, these came out in April?

Tom

Tom,

As a dealer you would know better than I.  Since April I have been suffering from post JLCLive and FestoolConnect syndrome and probably just missed the grand announcement.  It is getting better week by week. [poke]

I did a search here and didn't see much of a mention, so ...

I've had these for quite a while now, superb products.  I think I have a finer one as well as a clear polish.  Works really good with a waffle sponge on the RO150

We're anxiously awaiting some more of hte compounds to come over as well as some training courses that can really allow us create some educational material for you guys on behalf of these products.  In due time!
