Can a festool rail and a makita rail be joined together?

Sorry, the way your question was worded I just had to!

I can't answer your question from personal experience, but I'm sure someone here can.

And [welcome] to the FOG!

Yes, but the Makita rails have the bevel lock so some top rail parts wil not work without being modified likethe stops and some of the guilds. If you are using the TS, you wil have no issues. B

Great than thanks for the info.  I have makita track saw and found a good deal on a used festool rail. Since I will be upgrading to new ts55  in the future figured it wouldn't hurt to get the festoolatest rail .

If you're going to do that, be sure to have the dealer swap out the standard 1400mm rail (491498) for the "holy" rail, also 1400mm (496939).  They're the same price, but with the "holy" rail, you'll add the ability to use the LR 32.  If you ever want to make cabinets/bookcases and bore the sides to the 32mm standard, this is the way to go.
