I saw this the other day at the local lumber store that I frequent and I thought I would share this in case others may not have seen this before. It's a nice way to store a bunch of rail. Probably Festool contracted w/ some company to make a bunch of these for their retailers to use for rail display/storage. Looks like a very elegant display solution. Anyhow, thought it was worth passing along, not sure if this qualifies as a "jig" but at least it is for Festool and perhaps BY Festool.

Just saw this at the Las Vegas training center too. Looks like a nice small footprint to hold a bunch of rails - great idea-

Good fro short rails ... still a complication for the big ones ...

Could be modified such that one side of a slot is open so a big rail easier to be taken in/out without lifting it.

I had to look at it for awhile before I figured out the picture was turned and the rack wasn't hanging on the wall crooked hahahhaaa i am a idiot

I too thought it was hanging from the wall before looking at it closer.

Thanks Peter for rotating the image and making it more obvious.  [laughing]

Skids, put put on some of your own wheels, add a CT handle, and paint it green and you can sell it as a new Festool enhanced accessory.  [big grin]

Great idea - if you cut off one of the long ends to expose the slots and keep the base somewhat open, you could slide the rails in and out vs. lifting them out.  Fixes the long rail problem.

It really does need one open side for it to be useful for most people - I can't imagine too many people keep more than two or three  rails short enough to be useful in that thing.

Maybe not great for a heap of rails, but 3 short rails, parallel guides, etc - maybe a hybrid could be useful  [wink]

Elegant way to organize multiple tracks. Makes me want to go to the shop wan use my tracks.

Yes, I saw it at Ganahl Lumber in Pasadena, where you took the pic. I took a pic also thinking it might be worth building one but then thought it works really well only for the shorter rails. I'm still thinking that there is an idea there that might help store longer ones........ We have three 118" and a 106".

Ganahl in Pasadena is a wonderful lumberyard. When it first opened the Festool display was incredible. Now it has declined down to just pretty good.

The more I look at this, the more I like it.

I think it's a great organisational approach for storing medium length things like this. Only issue is if you already have a way to store long rails ... it probably suits your short ones too.

If you put a leg either side and attached a pivot to the middle of the stand, you could tilt the stand to horizontal, allowing you to easily put longer rails in,also, you could weight the bottom,so it would self right itself
