Diamond grinder RG 130 E-Plus is up now.  Comes with a paint disc; if it came with the concrete disc, I might pull the trigger in anticipation of grinding down a weird seam in our basement under the carpet, but that project is still a year or more off.

Plus, the consumables/support side of the equation in the US for the RG 130 seems sketchy, at best.

I purchased one of these last year when it showed up for the first time. I reached out to Festool USA about purchasing the other wheels and was told it won’t be a problem to buy them directly since they aren’t sold in the USA. Also, an interesting point, the updated version of this which contains Bluetooth, was demoed at the recent Festool Live event. I wonder if they are contemplating bringing it to the US. But since it’s available in Canada now, parts are available from Festool USA.

Not that I want to share my improper use of tools here, but I did use the default “paint removal” wheel to attack some old concrete and it did a surprisingly great job! Maybe just not as fast as the correct one would. It was also just a small area under an exterior door threshold.

Not technically Festool Recon, but I happened to check Shaper's Recon today and they were available.

We emptied our basement into the garage to have part of the floor torn out and the drain line replaced, and the flooring keeps getting pushed back, so my garage shop is still unusable.  I wouldn't get to use a Recon Shaper until the warranty is almost half up, so there's no sense in hoarding the information for myself.

I've signed up twice on the Shaper website to receive notifications when their Recon tools are available and I have yet to receive an e-mail.  It's almost as if they don't actually want to sell any of these units...
