Festool Recon Topic (compiled)

Out of curiosity, how can you tell that they sold 12 Kapex saws?

They certainly have moved a lot of items in the last couple of weeks through Recon.  Earlier this week in 30 minutes I saw five or six different items come up and then disappear, so I am guessing some were 1 or 2 items and sold out quickly. Then they seem to get stuck on an item, like this Kapex.

My guess is the next item is a 36AC dust extractor and 225 Planex combo.

They sold at least 10 Kapex combos, 8 Kapex within a few others days, and 14 since yesterday ... I know this because my day job is managing Business Analytics / Data Science which includes automated data extraction/historicization.  These items are not stuck ... they are selling and re-listing the exact same item until they move to a new product.

My issue re: the emails. If I don't get them I can't go into my email history and see what's come up and for what price. If you have the e-mail with the link you can click on it long after it's sold to see what they sold it for on the Recon site. This helps me decide if I want to buy new or wait for it to come to Recon again.

I can tell you the price ... what item are you looking for?

Thanks Bugsysiegals for telling me how you came up with the Kapex units sold, although if you told me VooDoo I would probably understand it easier.  My computer days were Fortran, CMS-80 and hoping you did not drop your stack of punched IBM 80 column cards and get them out of order.  I guess I am a little out of date. I do remember that the computer HAL in S.O. 2001 is just IBM shifted over one letter, but have not kept up to date since then.

Bob would like to know if you want to get coffee sometime.

So I guess I see some folks wanting the emails, but that just sounds like a night mare of getting flooded with stuff. I figured most folks if they are into looking for stuff would just keep a bookmark handing and refresh it from time to time when they go to their computer.

I'm guessing there is some level of work on Festool's side to make them, send them, deal with people responding, etc.  Unless Festool is filled with stuff they need to get out the door, not sending the emails just means stuff will probably be up there longer, give more folks a chance to see it, make the "store look more full", etc.

If they have sold 14 Kapex back to back, that's just dumb.  I suppose on one level it's easy to move the pile of Kapex closer to the loading dock and just send them all out.  But I would think they would try to have a variety to the stream of stuff.

I just received this e-mail back from Festool Recon:

"Hi Matthew

The email system is currently down, but your email shows as subscribed to the mailing list so you are good to go. We would simply advise that you keep an eye on the site directly for recon sales for the time being.

Kind Regards,
Festool Recon"

Well now that's an interesting statement...so the email system must have been down for the last 8-10 months and is currently still down because I have had a subscription to the mailing list for the last 5 years as confirmed by Festool last week and yet, I've never received an email from Festool since this new Festool Recon approach was initiated.  [jawdrop]

Well,  server down could mean many things.

1) Employee who had the password was laid off
2) Sledgehammer embedded into server, service ticket issues, not yet serviced.
3) Server broke, waiting on parts parts.
4) Attempt to convert server from metric to inch went bad.

Well that's interesting...I was able to place an order for an item. Wonder if it's a mistake and they will cancel the order?

Every item you click on is sold, so I assume that's it for Monday. I did score an OF 2200 so I can't complain. [smile]

If you purchased the item Festool will send you a receipt via email.

I did receive an email confirming my order and it hit my credit card. I can also see it in my account on the page.

Guess I got lucky? I'm still 100% skeptical.

I've only scored one Festool recon item over the years. That was when they used to run them through dealers - that's how I got my MFT/3. I've never been able to even see an available item under the new system - forget about buying one.

Repeating - I'm skeptical I actually got this item.

I wouldn't worry - I'm pretty sure you're good to go and will receive the item you purchased.

I ordered the TSC55 off the recon site on 1/15/2021 and it arrived on 1/20/2021.

Can you share what items were up and for what prices? I'm sure I'm not alone in wondering what was up for offer.

Funny how good these guys can be at tools but how bad they can be at IT stuff  [eek].

When you got to festoolrecon.com all you see is "Wow, today's offering went fast!". The navigation links take you to a couple of other pages, but nothing interesting. HOWEVER there is this completely hidden, apparently secret set of pages on the site at festoolrecon.com/collections which has a couple of additional sections under it with a ton of products available (well, hopefully available, I guess we're all still not sure).

So how exactly is anyone supposed to FIND any of these great offerings? I mean, we know that emails aren't going out anymore. And we know that there aren't any links to these seemingly hidden pages full of products. Doesn't seem like the best setup to me if your intent is to get rid of refurbished / reconditioned inventory...

Thanks guys, found it through that Collections link shared.

I'm putting it in the CMS Dyna and am ordering a Woodpeckers micro-adjust to also add to the CMS.  [smile]  Should be fun...

I first noticed the new recon site with lots of listings yesterday but didn’t buy anything before it went down. I was curious if it would be a daily thing so I checked periodically through the day today. Finally just bought the sander I’d been considering for a while now.

I managed to get a sander as well after I spent too much time considering my options yesterday. It's crazy how quickly everything sells...

Compiled several recent Recon topics ............................................ Also made it sticky.  So add updates here or direct others to this topic.

The most recent (as in today) posts are really the only ones that are relevant about the status of recon sales and availability of recon tools.

  Thanks,

Seth
