Just out of curiosity, I noticed that most Recon items are 25% off, but the DWC18-4500L-plus SCA US cordless drywall screw gun was 50% off (list $570 for $285).  (sorry-sold out)  This was model 574888 with the Better SCA-8 charger and two 5.2 BT batteries.  Just wondering.

Those batteries are not BT. Not sure why they are half price though.  I bought two for that reason.  Cheap way to get batteries and charger.

I noticed number of items on Recon Products listing increased.  Looks like the 1010 Router, Midi, and a Syslite were added, not for sure what else.

Yeah,  BiDirection UPS trucks.  I think they are getting to where the inflow and outflow are getting pretty even.

You are right, it is not supposed to have Bluetooth batteries.  However, the one I received had two Bluetooth batteries in it.  Win-win.

Sorry-I butchered the last entry.  As stated, the batteries should not be Bluetooth, but that is what Festool sent me.  So I am happy.

Same here- both times I’ve ordered a cordless recon tool (TSC 55 and Carvex) the model numbers indicate the tool originally would not have included a Bluetooth battery but Bluetooth batteries were included with the tool (two 5.2’s for both tools). The TSC actually had a sticker on it that said “new battery”, but the carvex did not, but was purchased during the current wide offering so they may not have taken the time to do stickers.

In addition to the new BT batteries, I have also received the new SCA chargers, two in the TSC 55 and one for the. carvex. When you factor in two new batteries and new chargers, the discount price is really nice.

These recon tools were a great way to get my battery collection to a strong point where I can easily purchase basic tool models going forward and be ok on batteries.

I ordered the CXS on Saturday but haven't seen any movement ... do these items only ship once per week?

No, they ship every day of the week. Sell it on Monday...prepare the shipment & paperwork on Tuesday...ship it out Wednesday.

The TSC 55 that I ordered last month didn't come with Bluetooth batteries.  I wasn't expecting that they would be Bluetooth, but I was kinda hoping they might be so I was a little disappointed to find they weren't (especially hearing about posts like yours where they did get Bluetooth batteries).  I guess it's just the luck of the draw.

I bought a basic TSC 55 in early January when only one item at a time would pop up.  I bought a basis because I was afraid of old batteries.  I was surprised that the build date on the tool was early 2016, so glad I did not order with batteries.  Now I am wondering if I would have received bluetooths.

They probably got hammered by the weather.  I was supposed to receive an UPS package on Saturday, and am still waiting for delivery.  There was a lot of ice in this part of the country last Monday, still a lot of ice on secondary roads.

It's been the same set of tools for the past week or so. Looks like no Vac Sys for the near future for me, so I decided I had enough situations in the past where I told myself: "I wish I had an LS130!", so I bought one 10 minutes ago. Checked the sale again just now, LS130 is still available. I think they have a lot of them in stock.

The timeframe was longer this evening, but there was also no morning sale today or afternoon sale yesterday so I wonder if they're making up for lost time.

I think Festool just likes to keeps up on our toes [tongue].

I'm not looking for anything on recon sale, but after reading recent posts surprised no one mentions customer service side of this.
It's outrageous. If occurred ones it could be a glitch, but these random on and off 15 min flash listings and cancellations of the mostly same inventory without any warning and explanation would get people fired from any normal retailer. It is no way to treat people. Festool should be ashamed of itself. It's as if they are driving customers crazy on purpose and having a laugh reading this thread.

I think they are opening it up until x number of tools are sold could be 5 could be 100 but once that number is reached the site shuts down. I bet this is for order processing and shipping constraints. Also, I feel that the time these sales come out so different people have access to what is available.

who knows

It is odd, but I guess there will always be enough demand to overlook these issues - especially considering the quality of their tools. BTW - the Recon Site FAQs includes the following:

How do I know when a certain tool will become available on festoolrecon.com?

Festool reserves the right to pick offers at random. It will not be transparent what tool will be for sale next. You will only learn of new offers through the official announcement sent out with the recon newsletter posting.  Once it expires, the next offer will become available.

I assume that they are trying to prevent re-sellers from hoarding and selling at a mark-up (like ticket scalpers). It does suck to keep checking, but could be worth it if you have time and luck out and find the site active. I grabbed an OF 1010 last week and it was delivered today and it is in near new condition. No visible use and all parts look brand new. I spent a little time testing it out (a few dados) and it is NOICE! So much lighter and easier to handle than the 1400. I am really going to enjoy using it and I saved a few bucks.

The random times make sense if they are trying to mix it up so people who may not be able to get in a sales window at one time on one day have a chance on another.  Of course the problem is how do people get stuff done if they are trying to check the site all day long.  But of course that is then what helps some folks get a real chance at a tool.

I think a lot of folks would just say leave them all up, all the time and let the market do the rest.  But yeah, maybe you would get people trying to make a business out of buying them, and then selling them on craigslist and such.

I'm not sure there is a perfect way to do this.

How long after people made a purchase was it till you got a shipping notice email?

There is. List everything available. First come first served (it's not a charity). If sells quickly adjust the price next time. Done.

For the Recon OF 1010 I bought last week - I ordered 10 FEB, received a shipment email on 12 FEB, and received item today (17 FEB) here in San Diego. However, I bought another item on Saturday and I still have not received a shipping notice.

I'm inclined to agree with you on this, but since they don't do this, I am going to assume Festool has their reasons. I think way back at the beginning of recon, Festool talked about this in the announcement, like wanting to have it be fun, or give everyone a chance, etc.

Maybe they are trying to avoid angering dealers by giving people a cheaper option then the dealer price on new all the time.  The system gets rid of the 30 day trial items, which helps dealers, yet dealers don't feel they are always competing against recon for a sale. You don't want to create a world where people buy the item new, return it in 30 days, and then re-buy it the moment it comes back up on the recon site at a lower price.  By making it random/hassle/etc, you prevent that problem.

That's an awful lot of work to go through for a 20-25% discount and a 2-year reduction in warranty, on top of the risk of someone else buying it out from under you.  Even as a hobbyist, if I need a tool, I usually need it either now, yesterday, or maybe up to a week from now and can wait for shipping.

I mean, people sometimes do that with home electronics, but most retailers that offer open-box discounts usually limit it to 5-10% which barely, if even, covers the sales tax.
