Festool Recon Topic (compiled)

Thanks to everyone for helping me out on this.  The link to the one and done page really helps!

I wonder if the TXS finally sold last night or if they just pulled it for another day.

As of 0500 CDT (and now 0600 CDT), the first item on the page is

PSBC420 Li EB-Plus SCA USA  - Cordless jigsaw, D-handled (listed as only coming with one battery, which I find odd).

After that sells, we have a BHC 18 Cordless Hammer Drill Set, and then the end of today's offerings (unless they put more up mid-day).

At 0515 CDT this morning, there was a corded RTS 400

We have since moved on to the Cordless delta sander DTSC 400 Li-Basic (bare tool plus Sys in other brands' lingo)

After that is the Cordless Angle Grinder AGC 18-115 Li 5,2 EBI-Plus (5.2 Ah set), and then it's done for the day (theoretically)

Nothing today?

Apparently not.  There was nothing at 0500 CDT or since.

I would have thought that if they were waiting for the West Coast, it would have been posted by now.

Agree!  Looks like nothing today!  But I'm still going to keep watching.....LOL  [big grin]

Nothing listed when I checked at 0500, 0515, 0600...

Checked just now after finishing my eggs and there's a TID18 Basic (bare tool plus systainer) listed.  Only 20% off instead of 25%, but it's not terribly expensive to begin with.

Next up is a VAC-PMP (Vac-sys Pump, pump only), and the final offering is the ETSC 125 Li-Set, with the cordless/mains adapter and Sys-Combi2 systainer.

Huh.

Any significant advantage the TID has over other impacts?

It uses the same batteries as other Festool if you have that platform. I don't think I'd buy it otherwise. Milwaukee has nicer offerings such as the Surge which is quieter.

It’s kind of meh, honestly. Huge runout, light goes out in one second, not as strong as Milwaukee.

Ergonomics are good, and bit storage is great to have.

Suction-Based Clamping Pump VAC-PMP just posted.

The biggest problem with that particular listing is that unless you need just the pump, it's not a very cost-effective way to get into that particular part of the system.  Once you buy the Vac Sys SE 1 (round clamp and foot pedal) for $425 to make it a system, you're only about 50 bucks under the price of the small Vac Sys Set ($990).

The big-daddy set that included the round and oblong clamps last week or the week prior was definitely a better "deal".

^^^ what he said.

Of special note, it appears that the Cordless Drill C 18 Li 5.2-Set USA set posted right now includes not only the Keyless and Centrotec chucks, but also the Right angle and Eccentric chucks, plus the SCA-8 Fast charger, along with 5.2 Ah batteries, which is rare for the drills (usually 4.0 or 3.1 Ah compact batteries).

After the C 18 Set sells out, we have a T 18+3 Set with 5.2 Ah batteries, then a C 18 Bare Tool and T 18+3 Bare Tool.

Not a bad day if you like the drills!

I have been watching today, it does not look like they will post anything.  Very excited for the new TSC 55 K.  looking forward to seeing the old 55's on Recon site!

Here's a weird one for ya.  I just got back to my hotel room and checked the Recon site, and there's an OS 400 up right now, as of 21:11 CDT.

Not sure how long it's been up or if anything else was posted before it, but I didn't see anything throughout most of the day.

Lots of tools today.  Cordless Carvex up followed by cordless vecturo, dtsc,  c18, hkc, conturo.  Alot of them are only 20% off though.  Wonder if discount is dropping?

The HKC 55 (currently posted) and the CONTURO Edge Bander are both 25% off...?

That C 18 posting was also quite odd in that it was only the marketing material but nothing stating what was included in the package like most listings.

I'm hoping that C 18 comes with everything pictured. It should, seeing as how the part number on the recon listing is exactly the item currently for sale on the retail side.

It should.

It's just surprising because there are also older C 18 sets that come with the right angle chuck and/or SCA-8 charger, and the pictures have been notoriously misleading compared to the listing of included stuff.

I just had a look at the Festool UK site and the C 18, at least the one with 4.0 batteries, comes in both the Plus and Set versions. It's the Set version that has the extra chucks. Why we don't get that in the US is beyond me, but that's what it is.

I think this was a change when they switched over to either the 4.0Ah version or the Sys3 version of the C 18. I picked up one of the Sys2 kits (575674) that ToolNut had on clearance last year when they were doing the switchover from the 3.1Ah batteries to the 4.0Ah ones, and it came with all of the accessory chucks except the "needlenose" depth stop.

I need to see how that depth limiting chuck is used. Looks interesting, but at $140...yikes.

Conturo is now up for sale if anyone's interested.

Other than one of the insane combo sets they sold, I think it's one of the highest-priced Recon items available.  Makes a Kapex look downright cheap!

It is, but that's part of what makes it such a good buy: if you do a lot of edge banding and were thinking about getting one anyway, getting it at a nearly $800 discount is a pretty sweet deal.
