The lead item was switched to "Wow, that went fast!!!" around 6:17 PM CST today. If I had to guess, that's their way of essentially shutting down Recon for the holiday weekend, since I doubt anyone will be around to fulfill orders if the Planex somehow sold.
Enjoy a rest from checking the Recon site or your slack messages!
I'm making some changes to Slack The #festool channel will get some extra data:
Channel messages now include original price, savings, discount %, basic stats, and a thumbnail.
Now that I'm keeping track of how many times a tool goes up for sale, I can display average sale times. In the example above, this was the first (saved) listing for the DF 700 and as such, the data is N/A. The Rotex was previously listed so it has data.
If you see that a tool typically sells in 30 seconds or less, you'll want to get on it.
There will be a new channel: #festool-more
This channel will add items in the queue to the channel message. Pricing and discount information for upcoming items can be viewed by clicking the button(s) on the right.
The #festool-more channel will be public so anyone can view it w/o joining it. If you do join the new channel, I would recommend either leaving the old channel or only enabling notifications for the channel you're interested in.
Note: the notification you get on your phone's home screen will not include the extra data. Home screen notifications will remain the same (tool name and price). Tapping the notification will still take you to the subscribed channel.
I've got this running in a test environment. Before I turn it on, I want to test it with more data. Another 5-10 recon sales should be sufficient. As of today, there are 59 people subscribed to the Slack channel. Kinda cool [cool]
This is how the data looks on mobile:
#festool
#festool-more
If there's something you'd like to see added to Slack, drop a comment in Slack's #feedback channel.
Thanks for posting "GoingmyWay". Recon was up yesterday but I could not find the thread where previous Recon items were listed to let the forum know. When I checked Recon, a light was up, with about five to six items behind it. I do remember one being a 90 sander. Anyway, I thank the people who notify us when Recon is running, and am sorry I could not find the thread to notify people yesterday.
