Interestingly, I was never able to pick the correct retailer that I purchased from. I uploaded the Recon email receipt anyway.
I have a feeling that if any of my older Recon tools that are beyond their 1 year Recon warranty -- but within the 3 year window --needed a repair, the mothership would know and potentially deny the warranty. Hoping I don't need to test it out

Good for you Matt...my experience has been the same. Just going over the numbers, I've purchased 17 tools from Festool Recon over the last 10 years. And before that, I purchased Festool Recon tools from Uncle Bob.
I've not had an issue with any of them. Just another alternative if you're patient enough and can anticipate future projects.
