I was having some trouble with my Leigh FMT (Frame Mortise & Tenon) jig.  The mortises and tenons just did not seem to fit properly.  The mortises did not seem to have vertical sides.  The problems would come and go.  No consistency.

I removed my Porter Cable router from the jig and installed my Festool router.  All problems gone.

Sometimes it is hard to quantify tool quality.  Festool routers have it.  Hope this helps anyone considering a Festool router purchase.

i used to own a trend router and using it for worktop joints when i was working on a large site i kept having trouble with gaping joints and joints not lining up i put it down to the fact i might have been rushing the job or incorrect jig placement now i have my of1400 i get perfect joints everytime though i rarely use my worktop jig now its still nice to know for those one off jobs i don't have to worry

I'm not surprised at all. I had a small Bosch with a 6 mm collet and the results were not very consistent. Now I have an OF1010 (in Holland) and an OF1400 (in the USA) and they feel very solid, no play on the shaft and guide rods. A class in its own.
