I still think Festool did a deal with Mafell to not make a 165 mm blade for a certain amount of time. I find it hard to believe that Festool could not see the issue with the 160 mm blade and 1 1/2 in cut at 45.
Oh, I also bought a small Dewalt cordless miter saw so the cordless Kapex is also off my future buying list.

I highly doubt this as they are not even really competitors. Different markets for different users with some crossover, but not a whole lot. Festool makes a massive variety of tools as well as multiples of the same tools with a lot of accessories. Mafell is the exact opposite. The goal is to sell tools and the solution is two different size saws to cover the bases and force some to buy both.

No way the TSC 55 will be made compatible with the HK rails...
Or at least, it's not happening just from a small base plate alteration. That would be lethal! There is a reason the HK saws pivot/plunge from the front and lock at the set cutting depth.

I would like to replace my aging DW708 and when I do I would prefer a cordless tool.
Any rumors about a cordless Kapex in the next year or so? I see Bosch has a cordless
version (GCM18V-12GDCN) of their glide arm saw available now.
There's also another rumor about the Kapex, that Festool is working on adding SawStop to it.
Doresoom Tool Reviews made a video about the patents he found, so actually it's more than a rumor. Bit more info about it (link to original patent). No idea when or if it's ever coming out.

That mash-up of a Shaper Origin and a TSC is funny.
A jig saw might be better as it can turn corners. [big grin]
Anyone remember the Craftsman jigsaw with the rotating blade? I think they called it Auto-scroll. You could just steer the saw in the direction you wanted to go and the blade would turn to follow the line of force. I don't know if it worked well or at all for that matter. But I can remember seeing it in the catalog for a number of years. It wasn't a flash in the pan thing.

That Craftsman i think had a sibling in Europe a long time ago.
It is a genius feature. These days jig saws have become so long bodied that they are near useless in confined spaces where they really should shine.
The Craftsman seems very short bodied too. I’m holding on to a 25 year old Bosch cause of its extremely short body to grab when needed. I did also buy the 12V version of Makita’s multitool that also accepts jig saw blades for exactly the same reason.

I still have that jigsaw. I bought it in the mid-1970's for around $69. It worked good but took a beating when I dropped it 20 feet from scaffolding. Now the trigger sticks so I cannot turn it off.
I also have a B+D jigsaw from the early 1960's just because it is a cute little all-metal saw. OK-I have a tool sickness-why do you think I visit this site?

that would be quite the thing. draw a line (maybe?) and no track needed. just push and it corrects the wander!
