Is The Corded HK55 "Underpowered"

It's kind of a legacy type thing from the early days of construction lumber. Even though we still call it a 2"x 4"......everybody knows it's really 1 1/2" x 3 1/2"
(way back in the day, it was 1 5/8" x 3 5/8") At least the change made the math easier.
I really don't know why pine ply is undersized? since, in general hardwood veneer ply isn't.
I mean one of the few things still named in inches here are water taps. So it might be "3/4". But there is nowhere you can actually measure 3/4"... yeah, the internal pipe diameter from a 19th century pipe... but all the stuff it connects to is based on the outer diameter.

So people new to that stuff... let's say they replace the tap for their washing machine. They unscrew it, measure the threads; they find 26.44mm, go to the sure and then only find 1/2", 3/4", 1" etc. So they figure out 26.44 is closest to 1", take that home and then discover the 1" is actually 33.25mm so it doesn't fit at all.

Or you are like me and you give a clueless family member a written note to pick up a stopcock 12mm x 3/8". Then said family member can't find it in the store, asks an (apparently equally clueless) store member and returns with a 1/2" x 3/8" stopcock that I have absolutely no use for.
