Festool Screw clamp: isn't it supposed to have a dimple on the bar?

I have both the quick clamp and just bought the shorter screw clamps. The rapid clamp has a dimple on the extension arm at the end so that the head doesn't fall off, but my new short screw clamps don't and I found that they fell onto the floor multiple times because of this.  How silly is that? Are all like this?

On a side note, while the festool seems designed well their quality control is poor. Literally half of the tools and accessories I have purchased have had small issues... On/off switches sticking badly, clamp bodies not being able to slide smoothly while hitting small burrs, etc. The rapid clamp was too large to fit in either track I have!

Hmm… I have a few of the short screw clamps (bought fairly recently in the UK) and they do have the 'dimple', which does rather play into the hands of your second, more general point. Unless they have now  been deleted from the design for some reason we're missing...

Checked all mine and they do have them, although the quality on the newer pair is pretty poor, especially where the rivet goes through the handle, sharp metal is exposed.
Nothing that a file wouldn't sort out, but looks and feels more like a cheap Chinese set.

Aren't the clamps actually made by Bessey?

My impression is Festool I growing rapidly, often this leads to QC issues.

Aren't those clamps likely made for Festool by Bessey? If so, then the fault may lie with production changes at Bessey.

Thanks guys. I will look into returning the clamps.

I couldn't agree more, their clamps feel cheap Chinese quality. Unfortunate.

On the other hand, I ground off the dimple of my clamps deliberately so that I could separate the two parts and insert the stem through the bottom of my workbench and clamp it from above (hope that makes sense).
