Many here have made the switch - including myself. So far so good for me. My situation is that my rails ride in my van or trailer and are exposed to all sorts of temperature changes. Whether or not that contributes to the failure of the bonding abilities of the Festool strips I finally replaced or not I can't say. But 5 rails later...
By gosh...I think you're right! I was looking at non slip strip, but it was pictured as the splinter guard, so was fooled. Now I can't find the old style black splinter guard. Makita seems to be the only one offering it, right?
If you are looking for the strip that you intentionally cut thru while making a cut, there isn't a black Festool one. The only black strips on the guiderails in many years are the two non-skid neoprene types designed to help the guiderails in place.
