Anyone here try the Makita black guide rail splinter guard in place of the Festool black splinter guard?  How'd it work out?

Many here have made the switch - including myself.  So far so good for me.  My situation is that my rails ride in my van or trailer and are exposed to all sorts of temperature changes.  Whether or not that contributes to the failure of the bonding abilities of the Festool strips I finally replaced or not I can't say.  But 5 rails later...

I like the Festool black because they have that nonskid surface.  Is that the case with the Makita strips?

Where do you get the black? Mine is clear and seems fine but one end does like to lift a bit.

I started buying Makita and havent had the recurring issue of the strip unsticking. And much cheaper

From what I saw, the Festool strip is $29 for 32' and the Makita is $18 for 118".  Seems the Festool is much cheaper.

No sure about your research. Festool strip is not cheaper. I also have never seen it in 32 foot lengths. In the states it’s $46 for 196”.

By gosh...I think you're right!  I was looking at non slip strip, but it was pictured as the splinter guard, so was fooled.  Now I can't find the old style black splinter guard.  Makita seems to be the only one offering it, right?

If you are looking for the strip that you intentionally cut thru while making a cut, there isn't a black Festool one.  The only black strips on the guiderails in many years are the two non-skid neoprene types designed to help the guiderails in place.
