Ok, guys.  Here's a link to the Spring 2010 Mini-Catalog.  This is the first time we're doing these mini-catalogs and I would appreciate any feedback that you have to offer about the promotion or the catalog itself.  This should provide more detail about the promotion which begins April 1st.  See your Festool dealer of choice for participation and product availability.

Festool Spring 2010 Mini-Catalog

Please note that the PDF is somewhat large in size (1.6mb) and may take some time to download for those with slow internet connections.

Shane

Edit: uploaded a smaller sized file (1.6mb)

Nice mini catalog.  It's a good way to present specials. As much as I like holding a printed catalog in my hands and reading it at lunch or while watching tv, I'm all for saving paper.  I think putting out a "master" catalog every 12-18 months and supplementing it with on-line catalogs is a sensible idea.

Hi Shane - I didn't notice the new LR32 end stops.  When are they expected to be released?  I'll be purchasing another rail because of the sale, but it would almost be worthless without those nifty end stops.

Good question, last I heard they should be introduced pretty soon.  I don't have a definitive date at the moment.  Realistically, I would expect within the next couple of months.  In fact, I think I heard that they were on a boat on their way to the U.S. a few weeks ago.  We will be sure to release information as soon as they are available.  [big grin]

Great to hear.  I have a small request for all our friends on the other side of the pond . . . can you turn on your fans or start blowing really hard so the boat gets here faster?  Thanks in advance. ::)

I quite like the mini catalogue (in spite of your bad spelling of the word "catalogue"  [poke]).  I am happy that I could not actually found the word spelled that way in the document).  The layout is good and the information content is good.

But I was disappointed.  When I saw that you had gone to the trouble of releasing a new catalogue, I thought that some new products would be announced, in particular I had hoped to hear that the new jig saw will be here soon.  However, I can always hope that there will be another mini catalogue coming along later this year that does announce the arrival of the Carvex

Just a reminder, if you're unsure about an item we have a terrific 30-day money-back guarantee -- no questions asked, no hassle.  So, give it a try.  A great example is the parallel guide set.  These are one of those hidden gems in the product line.  A lot of guys just don't see the benefit until they get their hands on them.  I think some of the forum members who have attended the cabinet class can attest to that fact.  You may know this guy named Brice here on the forum.  [wink] Well, he did a review of the parallel guide set.  Be sure to give it a read.

Frank, there are a lot of new products coming this year. I want them just as badly as you guys do!  Trust me. Sorry for the typo, eh.  [tongue]

Even if the new products aren't available yet, it would be nice to have a list/pictures of what Festool USA expects to be available between now and year end.  There's been plenty of speculation but nothing confirmed.

Understood, Steve. Technically, it's not 100% until they're on a boat on the way to the U.S.  I try to always be very careful not to speculate too much on new product introductions.  I expect you'll find out more about new products introductions for the U.S. and Canada a few months from now.

I picked up the parallel guides last year.  I cut down the sheet goods for a huge built-in wall unit for my wife in one afternoon.  8 sheets of plywood in no time.  They are well worth it.  At 10% off, they are even better.  Too bad I didn't wait 4 more months, I would have received 10% off  ;D

In last year's USA and Canadian catalogues, several products that were not yet available in North America were described and, in the USA version, they were even priced.  That's why I sort of expected to see some of this in the mini-catalogue.  Oh well ...

You were asking for feedback - The mini catalog looks nice.  There is a bit of confusion, however.  When you start at the beginning, there are lots of advertisements for "10% Off Instantly!".  So I would think that I could just go into the dealer or look on line and get the 10% off.  However, once I get to the back of the catalog, I noticed a "voucher" that I am required to fill out to get the 10%.  This seems confusing.  Why would I need a voucher if I am going to get 10% off instantly?  It seems that I would need a coupon for the savings, and that the savings isn't instant.

Another issue, consider those who do not read the catalog all the way through to see the voucher.  They're in for a big surprise when they visit the dealer!

So in summary, it looks nice.  Please remove the "voucher" requirement.

John:

I, and I suspect most other dealers, are participating in this sale.

If you don't already have a voucher to use, I will give you one.

Tom

Tom - Thanks for the offer.  The request was for feedback.  I hope that the point of my feedback wasn't missed.

John,

I know you like to order online.  There is a coupon code on the "voucher" in the pdf.

Peter

Peter, thank you.

Again, I hope that my point isn't being missed.  I know that the voucher is there, and that the code is there.  This isn't an issue for me.  Feedback was requested, so what I was pointing out was that someone may only get part way through the catalog and see "10% off instantly", go to order and then be angry and surprised when the 10% off doesn't appear instantly because they didn't have the coupon or promo code because it was at the back of the flier and not with the "10% off instantly" part.

Perhaps "Get 10% off instantly!*" or "Get 10% off instantly!  Use the voucher in this catalog or use promo code < foo > when ordering online".

"*To get 10% off instantly, use the voucher in this catalog or use promo code < foo > when ordering online".

And I provide this feedback and my expertise in this matter free, with no expectation of compensation.
