hi

We have the Festool 204842, Systainer SYS3 M187, and I'd like to be able to divide it up into 8 same size compartments. Can anyone assist me with finding an insert the right size, or 8 separate containers the right size that will fit please? Many thanks.

Not gonna happen with anything that is currently sold by Festool. The closest would be using a combination of 204940, 204941 & 204942 and pluck 8 identical compartments. I doubt you will like that and it’s a huge waste of time & money.

I have no knowledge of aftermarket/ 3d-printing offerings. You might get lucky on etsy/ebay or any of the 3d printing sites.

Kind regards,
Oliver

Depending on how tight you need the compartments, I would just measure and cut a few small pieces of 1/8" hardboard or plywood and interlock them together.

So looking closer into this issue, I found some interesting products.

Tanos (Systainer manufacturer) actually sells a 6-compartments divider set for the Systainer3 M237. EAN: 4063104002062 (Since their shop is giving me tremendous trouble with some 5xx errors right now, I just link to a dealer.)

This is a product you could probably inquire about with [member=68900]Systainer.Store[/member]

However, it gets a little more interesting with Bott. (Bott = Van racking specialist from Germany, Systainer3 were designed with/for/in partnership with them.)

Bott has a Systainer3 M187 with 6-compartments divider. Still two short of what you want, but it’s a start. EAN: 4049751774415

And here is the whole line up, all with 6-compartments divider.

I understand, not 8 compartments, so maybe even just for future reference when someone comes looking for this.

Kind regards,
Oliver

Thank you for tagging me.

Yes, there are 6 compartment dividers.  I can sell anything you see on this Bott SmartVan page, and I have sold a handful to customers.  They aren't listed on my site due to priority of tasks and a new site that is coming in oh so very soon and oh so much needed.  We hope to get these listed on the new site.

If you really need 8 compartments, I like the plywood/plastic approach and cutting your own.  If you need a solid bottom you could look at the plywood SYS-Inserts I make and sell.

I'm curious, what will you be putting into the Systainer?

If time is no object, here is a possible starting point: it would need to adapted to SYS3 however.

Nice design here too.

Tim [member=68900]Systainer.Store[/member] have you considered producing something that would allow for layers/levels to exist in a Systainer?

I had to make my own for Woodpeckers corner radius jigs and also for their aluminum gauge blocks. A commercial product would have been a lot quicker to implement.  [smile]

The bottom layer contains the Radius Quick-Jig while the top layer contains the Corner Jig.

Hi [member=44099]Cheese[/member] Yes I have considered, but haven't created something yet.  Obviously.

The Plywood SYS-Inserts can be used to create layers, though one needs to do what you did and consider how to index the layers for easy access.

I came up with a similar design to stack layers of shaper origin accessories : glued 1/4in plywood under the foam, and 20mm holes to allow lifting with 2 fingers.

I did the same thing for a mini insert, but I just double-stick taped it together.  It works well, and makes the foam easier to cut with the Shaper Origin.  Then you also have a tray you can carry around.
