Hi FOG,

I am a newbie  and just recently purchased my first group of Festools. I bought the following at the first of the year.

- MFT3
- TS55 REQ
- CT26
- Compact Cleaning Kit

I am really interested in upgrading to the T18-3. I have read and watched, on You Tube, many reviews of the T18-3 and other Festool drills. I currently have a Dewalt Hammer Drill and Impact Driver 20V. My grandfather wants to purchase them both and then I can buy the T18-3 and maybe the 89pc set.  I do some drilling into concrete, mainly in my garage wall which is where I am setting up my workshop. I considered keeping what I have and purchasing the TXS but didn't like that it has a brushed motor.

Oh the decisions, lol. Thanks in advance and FOG is a great wealth of information.

[welcome]

The PDC would be a better option if you need to put the odd hole in concrete.

The T18 is a big Rolls Royce of a drill .. beautiful balance and control (you'll feel like a surgeon using it), but it's not your solution to every drilling application.

The PDC is a bit more "brutal" than the T18.

If you do a lot of concrete drilling, the BHC is nice [wink]

I have the T18 as well as a number of the other Festool drills. It is a wonderful heavy duty drill, but not what I choose for concrete. I use a Bosch SDS drill for concrete work.

You might consider keeping your DeWalt drills and adding the T18 as it complements but doesn't overlap them.

I have the TSX and the CSX. The fact that they have brushes never interferes with my total satisfaction with them. Great light duty drills.

Was in the same boat as you regarding the tsx/csx. But now after owning the CSX for 6 months - i wouldn't be without it. I use it for 90% of my daily tasks and the battery last a loong time. That little bugger is strong for such a small drill. For any tougher jobs(e.g holesaws or larger forstner bits, the T18 comes out)

I don't know if its something in the US but over here we rarely combine hammer drill and drill.
In 99% of the cases i dont use my drill for concrete and dont understand why i would want to always carry around that weight.
I got a older metabo dedicated hammer drill that does the job ten times faster and cleaner.

But hey, everyones situation is different and theres a right tool for the job.
