I really need a way to transport my guide rails.
if Tanos would make a systainer that is MODULAR,  that is you would have the long systainer guiderail case for say...  up to four  55" guide rails + some rail accessories...  and this systainer opens in the middle.  it simply breaks in two when opened....

then additional sections could be made,  optional add-ons,  so that longer rails could be housed in the case.

further, this case should have neoprene or similar seals, so it could be used as a weather tight roof mounted container.
several loops or attachment points so it can be easily bungeed/strapped/tied to a roof rack...

just carrying around my guiderails for the past week, I have been more and m ore frustrated with trying to avoid damaging them as they are stuffed loosely into my truck full 'o Festools,  and after months and years of daily use, they are bound to look like the devil...

there is just no way to carry them inside anything!
this case could also have provisions for some of the other LONG extrusions such as the MFS template parts.

the job I am on has been AWESOME.  the Festools have allowed me to do amazing things here,  and it just so happens, the Dr I am working for has a lot of friends who he has been bringing by to see the work in progress.  -none have ever seen anything quite like it.  none have ever seen such an impeccably clean and dust free worksite.  this has gained me a LOT more work...
anyway, tonight,  -funny thing!  as I am packing up, one of the staff members commented,  "dont you have a case for these saw guides?"  I bet those are expensive!  you should get a matching case for them, I am sure they must make one..."

-I actually typed this thread last night, but didn't post it until tonight when I got home!

I bet some existing Tanos products could be altered to create a product like I am thinking of,  and it would be really really nice to be able to box up the rails 8)

+ the multi purpose case + roof rack container, seems right up Festool's alley  ;D

I just have the bag which takes 2 1400 rails and an 800 rail. I have seen a festool bag that takes the parallel guides too. Maybeall this is naina. But even so they are not rugged protection. Have you looked into companies like pelican who make tough waterproof cases? Depends which rails you want to store. Maybe a big gun case?
Seasons' greetings

Ps haven't got a link but try koferfunshop website sells systainers and pelican

You could also consider padded spear gun cases - or something custom.

there are a few things that would work and work well.  I am probably going to build a padded, diamond-plate aluminum bin for my roof rack.  still..  I would happily fork over $$$ if there were a Tanos Systainer purpose built for this.
wouldn't you?

I don't know.  Festool/Tanos offer Systainer Ports, and yet so many here find them too expensive and choose to make their own.  I would expect that any Tanos Guide Rail Systainer would follow suit.
