Hi

I heard locally that our Festool Dealer (Woodcraft) is the largest seller of Festool in the USA and was kind of surprised. This is however the only Festool dealer in Oahu (Hawaii) and we are a captive audience. They do have a big display and i am constantly shopping there trying to find this or that that i cant live without.

My question is, is this the largest brick and mortar Festool Seller in the USA?

I'd seriously doubt it given the population of the island.

What they probably meant was that Woodcraft in general is the largest dealer.

Having 70+ retail locations, plus two catalog businesses and online sites puts you in front of a lot of customers.

well there are a million people here and they have only one place to get Festool. even when i made similar arguments i was told that it was true

Interesting. We don't talk about sales figures or dealer specifics, so I'll let you all speculate among yourselves.

(Also ... I honestly don't know what our largest brick and mortar dealer is at the moment. :) )

[member=57769]TylerC[/member] - is that policy only with regard to the public ?

Meaning, would a dealer know if they were at the top of the list or where they ranked ?

Atlanta has roughly 6m people and four dealers, one of which really doesn't count because it's an aisle at a wholesale lumber yard which has dust so thick on the inventory that you really need a hazmat suit to handle anything.  Making us more starved per capita and I'll bet we've got more craftsman , tradesmen, hobbyists, and collectors than Oahu to chase the gear at the stores too.

[member=62911]Sardaukar[/member]  - one way to satisfy your curiosity is to simply ask yourself  which authorized FESTOOL dealer operating Brick  & Mortar retail stores has as anywhere near as many stores as WOODCRAFT likely has. - considering that Rockler is not a FESTOOL dealer, who else comes even close to WOODCRAFT in the number of stores? - see what I mean?

That said, the internet reaches far and wide - actually everywhere as we know from our own customers in Hawaii and points farther west yet.

Not really. We don't provide a ranking or give dealers any real insight about other dealers.

I'd be curious to know if Woodcraft stores know how they compare with each other. (I have no idea if they do or don't.)

Thanks Tyler.

Which means anyone could claim to be the biggest , or highest volume, ect.... With no real way to verify.

I'll bet a toolie that Woodcraft Corp. knows which store has the highest volume in terms of dollars , units, profitability, ect... And I'm pretty certain FT's CFO or Controller (and most likely the sales manager too) knows which dealer gets shipped the most product.

It's kinda difficult to manage a business without know these things.

I have overheard this from employees at this store, so maybe they do know the sales ranking info for woodcraft stores in the USA

It wouldn't surprise me if they now have they rank compared to other Woodcraft stores. It's similar to how each Festool country knows how we compare to other countries.

Interesting. I moved to Oahu about two months ago. Every time I go in there they never seem to have what I'm looking for in stock. They do have a nice variety though.

The Hawaii Ohau Woodcraft Store is the number one store in sales overall out of all the Woodcraft Stores.  I couldn't believe it.

I'm going to be blunt:  Lack of Options.

My guess is there are not many competitors in that area.  There isn't always the luxury of time to wait on shipping.

As Tyler mentioned, this is not something that Festool would - or should, be sharing with the public; interesting though it might be to some out there. But, blind though I may be, if I had to hazard a guess, Amazon or Woodcraft.

Why does it matter whom sells the most Festools? A festool buyer does not get any better price if they buy from a dealer that started selling yesterday than the do buying from a dealer that has sold a million tools.

I don't really care, but it was simply a questioned raised here. Curiousity? What's wrong with that?
